Help deciding on dining table size

We're about ready to purchase a dining room set but I am not sure what size to get. My husband has a large immediate family so I would like it to sit as many as possible in a pinch, but my dining room is small, only 10'x14'. My room has 2 doorways. One is a 29" door that opens into the dining room from the kitchen. Its on the shorter wall, so the 10' one and its in the corner of the room. The other doorway has french doors out into the main entryway and that is on the long, 14' wall. So I know about 48" is nice between the table and the wall, but we dont entertain that often and it would be quite easy for someone to leave thru the french door and just walk right around into the kitchen area.

I really like a boat-shaped table that is rectangular, but curves wider in the middle of the table. They make 2 sizes. One is 36" wide at the ends and at the widest point is 42". The next size up starts at 42" and the widest part is 48". I would get it 72" long and get 2 leaves to extend it to 90" if I need it.

The other thing is that I would LOVE to have a small buffet, but from what I am seeing they are around 20.5" wide. is there any hope of me fitting something like this in? Just a short buffet to hold serving dishes, etc... Or is this just a crazy idea with the amount of space i have? I would have to put the buffet on the long wall opposite the french doors, so it would cut into the space for the chairs on that side of the table. There is not enough space on the short wall with the 29" door, because that wall has a small kitty-corner, and the opposite wall has a double-window where the sill starts at about 28" from the floor, and a buffet is about 34" tall. But if I dont have a buffet I will only be able to put serving dishes in the kitchen. I'd have no place but the table to set things down.

I could also forgo the boat-shaped table and just get a traditional rectangular table. But I dont want to do that unless it really give me enough room for the small buffet.

Anyone BTDT? I dont want to buy something too big or not big enough.
