venta a hoods

We need to do some minor work in our kitchen. Replacing the over the range microwave with its own built in "vent" is on our list. Since there is a cabinet above the microwave that needs to stay put, I am looking at a simple vent-a-hood that can just slide into where the microwave has been. All my previous hoods have has the screen style filters. The vent-a-hood does not have the filters, just a fan with a catch basin that snaps off to clean. Does this realy work ?? Since this will be above an induction cooktop,we won't have issues with residual heat or fumes,. However since the vent-a-hood doesn't have the filters that the air has to be pulled through, the salesman said I will be fine with a 260-280 CFM fan.

Opinions, ideas, suggestions ?

Thanks,
