slidingshelves.com

has anybody used slidingshelves.com (or there other names kitchenslidingshelves.com or shelvesthatglide.com)for pull outs?

my cabinets don't offer anything but very shallow side pullouts, so I'm going to install high back pullouts from an independent supplier.

One thing that bothers me is that they all seem to come with just 1/4" plywood bottoms. For a wide (28") shelf loaded with canned goods it seems like this would sag and drag on the fixed shelf it's mounted on. Does anybody have wide pullouts in thier pantry?

Has anybody used any of the aftermarket pullout shelves?

Thanks,

I have been looking and looking at these too. My lower cabinets are so deep that I really do have to get on my hands and knees to find things.

Someone just told me that Costco also carries these and are rated to 100lb (including the shelf). They are custom made and you just give them the measurements . They look really nice on the website and seem to be a bit cheaper than others that look similar. They start with a 2" front that gradually goes up to 4" in the back and I think that would stop most anything from falling off the back. The Costco ones have some different options to choose from like the wood type and full extension glides.

The other thing I noticed about these different slide out shelves is that some mount to the bottom of the cabinet and some to the sides. My base is open all the way across with 4 doors so I need the bottom mounted ones. I also saw some on ebay for a lot less money. I really need 14 so am interested in saving money.

I like the look of wood but someone else told me the metal ones are better so I hope someone chimes in with their experience. They said they found the metal/chrome ones at HD for a good price but I haven't seem them at my local store. My openings are not "standard" either, they are 17 3/4" so if I go with the ready made ones, I will lose some space.

The other thing I noticed is that all of them need to be stained or clear coated or painted and for that much money, I just want to mount them and be done, not do a lot of extra work which is pulling me to look more carefully at the metal ones.

We want to know! Please give us tips and where you bought yours, do you really need the full extensions or does that make the shelf loaded with cans fall out on the floor, did you have to stain them, was it hard? Thanks in advance!

I've been toying with the idea of adding some roll-outs to some of my cabinets that don't have them. I have not purchased any, so I have no experience with any, but I have looked at these http://www.kitchensource.com/drawer-organizer/cc-cd03-01.htm They might be another option for you to consider. You can customize the size, they're pre-finished, and you can get a 1/2' bottom on them. They aren't cheap, though and it appears if you get added height, it would be the entire drawer, not just the back. Looking around at that site real quick I also found the ones linked below. Looks like they have the potential for a high-back option, but I don't see info on the bottom thickness. There's lots of stuff on that site, maybe you'll find something there. I did order another item from the site and had no problems with them. Hope this helps.

I know nothing about this company because I have not personally ordered from them but they are the company behind th Kitchensource drawers. You can get more custom options from them.

    Good luck in your search!

I haven't used them yet, but the Lynk professional roll out shelves available at the container store.com (or bricks and morter) Target on line, and a variety of other places seem to be really high quality. Heavy duty and chrome plated, a variety of sizes and special examples for under sink, pot lids, as well as straight forward pull uts in a variety of widths. Prices seem pretty uniform, but I haven't seriously shopped yet. I saw them at my local container store--look and feel awesome.

Similar shelves just saw recently from Simple Human are similarly priced but much less well designed IMO.

lynk and other metal shelves look good but they don't come wide enough. Costco has a good price but limited selection of styles I want wide shelves with high sides and back and a low front. sliding shelves.com was one of the few that offered this. I ordered one shelf to check it out. I think I may be just checking out how hard it is to reinforce the bottom.
