Frogtape II...

This is kinda weird...

This past week, we've had people calling us asking if we'd gotten any more in yet! One gal popped in (doing errands) specifically for this tape...excitedly wondering the same thing!!

I was by myself last week in the Paint-dept....and finally had a chance (last Friday a.m.) to call the guy "Rep-ing" this stuff for Inspired Technologies. Got it in today.

If you haven't heard of this stuff...it's pretty damn good!

There's an invisible sealant at the edges that "seals-off" when paint touches it. It's a G0d-send for textured walls, and Oak surfaces...trim too!

Anybody else out there tried this yet?!!?

Hey Faron, You're reading my mind! I was thinking of posting odes to FrogTape today, only to find your message. All I can say is thank you, thank you for alerting us/me to this great product. I've used up 2 rolls so far and have another 2 on order @ the website. This is truly a great and innovative product. I've used it both to mask latex and oil stains, the latter being fairly dark (candelight). The candelight stain against natural plaster walls left nary a spot of bleed-thru. And this was by using just normal pressure to mask off. The blue tape would have given massive clean-up/faux painting problems against the plaster. FrogTape is wonderful! Just today I suggested to my local and great paint store that they start to stock it. FrogTape rocks!

I forgot to say 2 things. First, FrogTape is very easy to remove. Second, it doesn't rip when you tear it off the roll. Half the time, the blue tape rips sorta crosswise when I try to tear off a piece, making me pry a little tiny end up off the roll to start again. FrogTape doesn't do this.

    I hear ya Girl!!
Why can't WE think up something like this?!?!?!?

When we first got it in (Nov.??), people kinda balked at the price, but when more started using it, it just sold itself....referrals, etc.

Woo-hoo! No more having to lightly caulk the edges of "Blue" tapes!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you guys!! This seems like just what I have been looking for!!

So do you think it will really work even on my VERY textured walls? Anyone tried it with texture heavier than orange peel?

I currently have "knock-down" texture on ceilings and walls and it is virtually impossible to get a nice line at the ceiling, even with light caulking.

Would love to hear about more experiences using this stuff.

Thanks Faron for the heads up on Frog Tape. I just finished using it last night to do my stripes in my sons bedroom (1" stripes spaced 4" apart below a chair rail) It's a great product and works as advertised.

So, in an effort to say thanks for the tip and the forum, here are some of my Frog Tape observations/notes FWIW:

Ordering/Purchasing: I ordered mine online and it took approx 4-5 business days to get to NY from MN where they are located.

Application: As katie mentioned above, it peels off the roll and for that matter the wall quite easily and doesn't rip all wonky as the blue tape often does. And while there's no way to prove it, it did seem to go down straighter and not distort as much as the blue tape.

Bleeding (The Big Question): Out of 95 stripes (sadly, I counted) I did experience minimal bleeding (biggest spot was less than 1/4" in length) on about 5 stripes. After some evaluation its clear this was caused by not fully adhering the tape to the wall near the moldings. Lesson learned here, make sure you run a finger over the tape edge before painting. (But after laying out 190 strips of tape, I got a bit lazy.)

Pulls (The Other Big Question): Had maybe 9 or 10 spots less than 1/8" in size where the base paint pulled off the wall. Though the areas in which all the failure occurred were spots with significant patching (80 yr old plaster walls) and most likely not primed adequately.

Probably way too much useless rambling info... so to recap: Yes. Frog Tape is Good!
