This is one of my island inspiration pics. It's not the darkest wood, but maybe it will give you an idea. Our island will be a little darker than this and we are using ORB (only on the island).

here's our bath vanity:

Mine are cherry cabinets with "Richland" stain with oil rubbed bronze hardware.

I have a two tone kitchen - cream perimeter and cherry/saddle stain on the island and peninsula. I picked a bronzy color for the cream cabs and a satin nickel for the darker cabs. I just didnt' like how dark the bronzy hardware looked on my island.
