Or should I stick with plain round ones?

They're great. I think I like the top one best, because it's boldest and simplest, but it's not like you'll be comparing once they're installed. The 2nd style has that edge around the pattern that sort of mimics the top edge of the cup pulls, and it might be nice to grab the smooth edge, rather than the bumpy one the top knob has. So now I'm torn. Choose your favorite and they'll be perfectly fine. They have personality that the plain round ones don't.

Absolutely... you can use whatever you want, I would just make sure the finishes match.

Definitely! They're both curvy and traditional in feel.

I keep writing things then erasing because I don't want to sway opinions.

I don't think you should be afraid to sway opinions...It's about your kitchen, and it helps us to know how you're feeling or from what direction you're seeing this choice. You know more about your kitchen and will care more about the result in the end.

Maybe a plain knob with a ridge on the front to give it the shading then? I don't think that they are "tacky" at all. Get what you want, just makes sure the finishes match.

This is my favorite one, but it's from a different company so the finishes won't necessarily match if I were to use it.

you are too funny. I thought someone was being a bit up front with you, saying they were tacky . . . then I saw you were responding to yourself. My problem is that I am too practical and lazy. With those textured knobs, I see bread dough and flour stuck to them. I want something that's incredibly easy to clean AND attractive. However, I do think that the dern pulls have been the toughest decision yet. But the rule is, it's your kitchen, you're going to opening those doors and drawers and looking at them every day. If you like em, get them!

Are these two that you have narrowed down from a much wider field or is this your starting point? The second group, besides reminding me of those molded candies with the soft fruit center, take me back to some era, but I don't know which one. (That's a neutral statement, not a judgment.) I agree that it really comes down to your preference. Do you like them, and is your kitchen in need of a "detail to look at"? The oval-shaped plain knobs are a little more interesting than the round ones as well if you don't want to go too far off the beaten path.

I have a builder board from Berenson. They have a couple of knob choices that have a little visual interest but the edges are smooth, if you are looking for other choices.

I know what you mean about liking the round knobs but thinking they might be boring or tacky. I love the way they look in all kitchens when I see them but when I was trying to decide for my own kitchen I was obsessed with the roundness (does that make sense?) so I went with the ephram 1.25" knob from Restoration Hardware which is egg shaped. It probably has the same look overall from the round knobs but when I was focusing on that one little detail it seemed to make a difference. Really I think anything looks good provided the finishes match (same company if possible) and the proportions are in line. You wouldn't want something too chunky in one then too dainty in another. Hope this makes sense, it's late....:)

I'm not a fan of either of those. Have you considered an egg shaped knob? Or round with a simple button indent or design.
