Storm affecting your kitchen?

I must finalize my selection of appliances. Yesterday. But the wind keeps howling, it's a whiteout and dh is still not home yet.

Neither is my grandson.

I was just going to get comfy and settle in, and work on the appliances but it is so noisy outside. I hope all my gw pals are toasty and wait for the snow-shoveling angels. Oh, wait, I made that part up!

It's not affecting my kitchen, but it is messing with my sanity!! If the kids miss another day of school (and I have to use another vacation day) I won't have any left for when we're actually doing the kitchen in April!!!

It's making me use my kitchen more to cook since I can't go out to eat :-)

The high temp is 1 degree today. Kids are home from school due to weather & I am trying to work from home in the relative warmth of my bedroom. Meanwhile, the noise from construction is on-going downstairs, front door open-close-open as the guys conscentiously haul wood flooring stuff in. The weather isn't affecting the progress - we are actually ahead of schedule (and yes, under budget). I'd love to be in the comfort of my office!

Thermometer never got over 0 today and is starting to fall again here in the burbs of Denver. :( We only got about 2 inches of show yesterday--they say no more snow just subzero temps until Thursday (although the sky is looking like it could start snowing right now). Schools closed today because they didn't think they could get enough buses started. I made a couple loafs of apple bread so the house smells great! Need to get started on some work, but keep coming back to GW, LOL! I did get a couple cupboards cleaned out & sorted in preparation for working on kitchen layouts (at least that's something I accomplished today).

Kids will be home tomorrow and contractor will be staying home. HIS home, that is.
I was supposed to run around tomorrow, but with the impending storm and having the kids home, that will not happen. Looks like we will have a cozy day at home.

Oh, and also, we hired a new service to shovel our driveway and front steps this year. Had a contract and all. The owner has gone MIA with our money. So I guess I will be shovelling a whole lot of snow tomorrow too. Good thing my "helpers" will be home from school ;)

I'm home playing in my kitchen, cooking on my GAS stove, and later tonight I'll play in my walk in shower! I sewed a quilt top today for the Vet's Hosp. in Iowa City. I have to track down the address to send it. There was an announcement in the bulletin that they need 20 a DAY. So instead of sewing for Lutheran World Relief I guess I'll sew for my own people. I'm hoping the wind blows all night and I can't get out in the morning. and that my sister can't get here after me, either! If I get to stay home I'm going to bake and sew. I think something with yeast. And maybe the shortbread cookies. I've been looking at the second hand stores for a shortbread pan but so far no luck. I've never made shortbread before.
Looking forward to tomorrow because I don't have young children at home! Did you know we had a blizzard a year ago at this time? I started ripping the paneling off my walls on a Friday night to be ready for my carpenter on Monday. I pushed the dumpster into the garage..UPHILL so that I could fill it instead of having it fill up with snow. I had visions......but he got here and I got a kitchen in record time. It doesn't seem like it's been 11 months already!

Problem here isn't just the snow, which we've had every week since Christmas. It's the snow on top of mounds and mounds of garbage, which hasn't been picked up because of the snow.

And tomorrow, we're expecting what sounds like an ice storm.
    Fun City.

pinch_me, Where is all that energy coming from???? I love your post!

My kitchen is considered finished to the untrained eye, so the weather isn't interfering in its progress at all. But the salt, that is a different story. I'm obsessed with cleaning it up. With this dark floor, I can see it and it drives me nuts.

My dogs are hating this snow/ice. It is over their heads. I keep having to go out on the deck and clean up presents, and then cover over the lemon snow with new white snow. Poor babies.

pinch me, you crack me up! how many cups of coffee have you had today?! Please give me some of what your having!

I make it by the cup so I guess about 28?? Figuring 2 per hour since 4:30 this morning. Ahem, and all but two pieces of Mrs. Smith's frozen pie that I baked yesterday because it had been in the freezer too long;-)

Bread on the counter for bread pudding! With golden raisins left over from the noodle pudding. If I could retire, I could stay home every day!

What's the biggest size jeans they make?

My kitchen no.. my sanity... YESSSS!!! My kids will be in school until July at this point....

Wow. Now I know why housing in San Diego is so expensive. I won't tell you what today was like.

    ;-)

pinch, you are 24 cups of coffee ahead of me!! I will have to try and catch up to you.

I'll wait for ya. I think I'm done for today.

I need some snowshoes. Thinking the best chore plan for tomorrow. the drifts might be hard enough to walk on. I fell into one tonight. It was so white I didn't see it and then I couldn't get my foot/leg high enough to clear it to take the next step so down I went. Not far down in snow that deep and it was soft so no harm done. Snow is such a PITA.

I just had to bump this...I need to know how pinch me is doing.

It was -36 degrees here this am when I woke up at 7 am. That does NOT take into consideration the wind chill factor. It's been like that for about 3 days. We didn't make it up to zero today. Supposed to have a high of like 5 degrees today but not quite there. It's been COLDDDDDDDDDDDD!

I'm doin'! I had to go to work today. I was warmly greeted as soon as they saw me carrying my "treat box". I have a plastic box thing with a snap on lid and blue handles that I use to take goodies to work. I love to bake but I've learned to share. (Something to do with being too fluffy for my jeans.)

It looks like my plow man was here with the blower but he didn't take the south drift down and it's filling in again. I was surprised at how much snow is blowing again tonight. It was supposed to be OVER! I just saw two state plows head out of the DOT garage driveway. That tells me the interstate is drifting again.

There's a possibility of better weather for the weekend and I'm hoping to be able to shovel out a larger space in my dog's kennels. My outside dogs are limited to a small path out of the dog building, a very small turn around space and then either leap on top of the drifts and snow piles or go back inside. I did see my girl dogs laying in the sun on a drift on the south side of their building yesterday. Last year I had to shovel a path all the way around the inside of the kennel fence so they coudln't walk out!

I'm guessing there is a big drift between my horse barn and the ideal vantage point for them to supervise the DOT trucks because I haven't seen then standing by the fence. Their favorite thing is to stand at the corner of the fence and watch the men and trucks come and go. Second favorite thing is to watch the traffic on the interstate.

I have to tell you - since I have a captive audience- I saw pony and a young deer touch noses across the fence last fall. Pony REALLY wanted to touch that deer and the deer REALLY wanted to know what that thing was but as soon as pony's nose touched hers she was gone. Not far, but gone. I wish I could have gotten some pictures or video.

YES the storm is affecting my kitchen! My appliances were supposed to finally be delivered on Wednesday. I've been waiting for Wednesday, Feb. 2nd, for a couple of months now. Then we had to get a big ol' thick layer of ice in Dallas and everything came to a screeching halt. They are saying my appliances MIGHT get delivered on Monday. So now we are on Day 4 of no school tomorrow and I have a house full of kids with no kitchen. GRRRRRRRRR.
    I want my kitchen appliances!

Well my kitchen remodel was supposed to start right after Christmas and has been put off due to all the snow storms.. however I am finally on the schedule for tomorrow. I should be running around clearing everything away and storing dishes pans, etc upstairs.. But I am not.. I've put on the coffee to hopefully find some of pinch me's energy to get me moving!!
    Talk about last minute.

greenhousems, it can't say decaffinated on the label! It has to be the red can.

It takes longer than you think to get it all out of there! Get movin'!
