You have to be one of the luckiest people to ever hire a painter. In these days of get in and get out, it is nice to hear a story about someone actually taking their time to complete a job right. Many part-time painters take their time on jobs because they are tired and are trying to be as professional as possible. I would remind him that he is holding up other work in the project. Also remind him how much you appreciate his thoroughness in the job. Maybe that will help push him along.

I'm going to give him a calendar of when other things are scheduled, like the plumbing and floor installation, I really hope that will make a difference.

As mentioned on the decorating board, the painter left a note taped to the door yesterday, quitting. Had another painter (the guy who did the sheetrock) in less than an hour. Hopefully it will be for the best

I would feel lucky that he is slow but GOOD! Hopefully you are not paying by the hour. One glaring concern I see, however, is that you are having painting done before other work. Painting should be the last thing -- that way the plumber and other workers are not messing up the new paint. Too late for that on this project, but....

Allison, I appreciate your concern, I wasn't very clear. all the actual plumbing and electric are done, we pretty much re-plumbed and re-wired the house, insulated the exterior walls for the first time, and all that. We just wanted to paint before we put the plumbing trim on, etc. Our plumber is so neat and careful, I don't think that will be a problem.

But that painter is gone now, and that's ok, once we really realized that not one single thing had gotten finished in over a month, and loads of touch ups, probably another coat on the ceiling, all that sort of thing. Seriously it would have taken six months. But no harm done.
