Wall ovens

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and am going round and round on the issue of which wall oven, convection microwave and warming drawer to buy. I have looked at the Consumer Reports ratings and none of their recommended buys appeal to me or seem to meet my needs. My contractor suggests Thermador, but I have read reports on blogs of Thermador's unreliability. I like the Dacor 30" oven with their convection microwave and warming drawer set up. I like the French doors on the Blue Star. Has anyone recently bought a wall oven, convection microwave, and/or warming drawer and thinks they have an experience useful to me?

Have you checked out the Appliance Forum? Great info there!

My mother's repairman only likes BSH (Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau).

If you like the Dacor what's stopping you? The contractor?

The consensus around here, however, is that warming drawers are a lot more convenient and get used more if they're at counter level and as near to the cooktop as possible. Often, at the bottom of an oven stack, especially if that's not right next to the cooktop, they're just too inconvenient to bother with. Know how you like to cook. If you're sure it'll work well for you in a stack, go for it.

In my recent oven quest, the Dacor was my runner up, and I kind of wish I would have gone that route. If price was no object, I would've gone for Miele. My trusted repairman (after I didn't choose it) says Dacor is his favorite, although he expressed concern about their possible struggles because of the economy. But as I asked him, which company can we be sure of in the current situation? For example, GE has always been considered a stable option, but they've been trying to sell the appliance division for a while now.

I really liked the looks of the Thermador, but certainly not the price! And, except for Plllog's mother's repairman ;-), I didn't hear much about the BSH service record that sounded good.

Plllog is right that there is lots of valuable information on the appliance forum about ovens.

I am installing the Dacor wall oven stack (microwave, single oven, warming drawer) this week. My GC, who used to own a catering company, has Dacor himself, and couldn't say enough about them. The saleswoman at the appliance store was also very high on them. I didn't do a ton of research; what I did find seem to have pros and cons for just about everything. So, I decided to trust their advice--and I liked the look of the Dacor stack. Plus they have a deal at the moment--if you buy a cooktop and oven you get a microwave or warming drawer free.
