Personally, I've been loving kitchens with one stone on the perimeter and another on the island. Here's a few examples.

If you were to do a white counter top for your island and then choosing a different counter for the rest of your kitchen...it would match beautifully. Mixed materials in kitchens are very big right now!

Hi Laura, I also agree with the comments above. A manmade counter in a color like Cambria "Canterbury" with flecks of copper for warmth and deep greys and light beiges would be a great complement to the bianca on the island. You may want to refinish the island in a deeper tone to create some dynamic contrast. I am adding another 2 tone kitchen as an example although this is grey tones. On a side note........your arch is lovely.

I have the exact same dilemma re: the rest of the house being tans and beiges (warm tones) and wanting to go with white and greys (cool tones) in the kitchen. I think it depends to what extent the kitchen is separated from the other areas of the house versus being very open concept. With open concept layouts, I think you are obliged to maintain harmony throughout with the colour scheme. Would like to know what others think re: contrasting palettes if the kitchen is enclosed.
