Painters Tape

I am sure this subject has been covered on this forum before, but try as I might I cannot find it, so will ask the question in hopes that some of you that have the solution will answer. I am getting ready to paint my large hallway with Benjamin Moore "Raspberry Truffle". This is a BOLD step for me as I usually prefer the more earthy colors. I have crown moulding and alot of cutting in to do. I use the blue painters tape. In the past when I removed the tape I had some bleed thru onto my wood. Please, can you kind people please list the steps I should take when using the tape and to avoid having a mess to clean off my woodwork? I would be forever grateful for any help you can offer. Thank you in advance.

You just need to press down the edge where the paint would seep under the tape. You can do this with a flexible putty knife.

Wildlife, I've also had this problem and have "pressed the tape edge down" to try to avoid this. Still it didnt always work. Recently I've seen it twice on HGTV where they say to paint the edge of the tape before painting the wall, it is supposed to help stop the paint from bleeding under the tape.

Whatever, else, take the darned stuff down within the recommended time frame!
