SW colors

My builder prefers Sherwin Williams. So I just picked up the giant fan of colors and I am now completely overwhelmed.

This is a new build. 3Bed, 2 Bath. Living/Dining/Kitchen combo all open to one another. A hallway and a Laundry room.

I think I wanna do the living/dining/kitchen room a neutral with one accent wall of something bolder. The flooring is a rusty chocolate color 20x20 tile.

Any suggestions for favorite SW colors? I can't really rely on my fiance's opinions because he's truly color blind. As far as the colors, I dont wanna do any pinks or purples. Other than that I am open to suggestions.

Also, what color would you paint a tongue&groove porch deck on a house w/ mossy-taupe siding.

Thanks!

    Hello,

I just painted my living room/dining room Kilim beige (6106) and used Latte (6108) in the Kitchen (it is an open floor plan, so the kitchen flows right into the LR/DR). I also used Divine White (6105)in my bedrooms. All of these colors are from the same "strip" on the color wheel. I think it looks quite nice. I have bright white trim, and the contrast is nice.

I used Kilim Beige also on 3 walls in my family room, the wall with the stone fireplace is Nomadic Desert. I also have a powder room in ND. We love those colors together, I don't have my chip color fan here or I would look up those color numbers for you. The Nomadic D is not on the same card as the Kilim, I don't think. The kitchen dining is Grassland, when the light hits it during the day it is different colors, very soft and soothing, pretty. The hallway going to the bedrooms is Kilim Beige, another bedroom is Nomadic Desert, the guest bathroom is Portobello, let me tell you this is such a rich color, awesome and beautiful!!! In our bedroom, 3 walls are Nomadic Desert, the 4th wall behind the bed is Grounded, looks like milk chocolate, very pretty. I wanted to use the Portobello in the bedroom, but it did not match the tile I have in that room. My front door is the Latte, love it!

    Good Luck!

As you have a new build, you might be well-advised to go basic for the first year. There will be settling that causes some nail pops and tape splits. Following that inevitable repair, your final color choices will be safe to apply.

Most of our home is painted with SW - primarily because they have good paint are located close. Last winter we painted our Entry, Living, Dining Rooms plus the stairway and 2nd floor hallway using Kilim Beige, Latte and Divine White - same combinations as libwebber.

In our Kitchen we used a deep red for an accent wall. The photos may provide some visual help with how they look in the rooms.

Enjoy your new home and best of luck there.

Nomadic Dessert is on the same card as Devine White and Kilim beige, its one shade darker than kilim beige and one shade lighter than Latte...

We just used tons of Kilim Beige, and I love it. In our entry, we used Kilim on most walls, but used Latte on accent walls. We used Kilim in our living room, with Latte on the fireplace wall. Then, we used Kilim on the upper walls in dining room, with Hopsack below the chair rail. The colors on the strip are Divine White, #6105, Kilim Beige 6106, Nomadic Desert 6107, Latte 6108, Hopsack 6109, Steady Brown 6110, and Coconut Husk 6111. I see these colors as pure brown tones with no purple tones.

    frmroberts,

I looked at your pictures, and especially liked the blue bathroom. Are the walls papered, or is that a paint technique? It's exactly what I want for my kids' bath.

    Thanks,
    Susan

Yes, we went outside the box in the Powder Room deciding that it simply did not need to be part of the house.

The wall treatment is a textured paper. We like it but I would not DIY it again. It stretches when hanging, then shrinks and the match was awful.

Appreciate the compliment and am sorry for the negative feedback but wouldn't want to mislead anyone. I'm sure you can find something in a vinyl wall covering that will work for your youngsters. Good luck.

We also just painted a ton of the Kilim Beige. Our entryway, two halls, formal living room, and above the chair rail in the dining room are all Kilim Beige. It looks extremely bright (kinda think Nomadic Desert would have been better) in the entryway and living room. But our dining room and family room the Kilim looks nice and warm and plenty of color...just different lighting. Below our dining room chair rail is SW Latte. The kitchen and powder room are SW Contented. Love it all and would not change it except for bumping the entryway to Nomadic Desert. That strip is great - not to yellow, no pink in it at all.
