Extremely Important Question!!!!!!!!!!

What drink should I have after my granite is installed tomorrow?

I know I'm not finished with our mini makeover after just the granite, but can't their be stages of celebration?

Over on the pool forum we would all celebrate with a drink called a Turborita when someone's pool was comopleted. When mine was done, I held a cyber celebration.

Turboritas

12 oz. tequila

12 oz. frozen lime aide

12 oz. 7 Up (not Sprite)

12 oz. Corona

Mix and serve over ice

What's our finished kitchen specialty drink going to be here? I have to mention, that many of the pool people would make the Turboritas in one of those big construction coolers! Perhaps here it should be a dish.

Well.....my drink of choice is very easy to prepare....uncork and pour. And, no, I am not drinking the corks below. :) This is simply the evidence to prove I am medicating daily to make it through the stress. :) (Said only partly in jest). LOL.

    Congrats on the latest milestone!

After living with quarter inch plywood counters for 2 years, my husband got me my favorite champagne for the day our soapstone was installed.

Wow. I am going to have to try that one when it is warmer than 10 degrees here (Chicago).

My favorite cocktail of late is a genuine Key Lime daiquiri: 2oz good light rum (I love Mount Gay), 1 oz (or less, to taste) sugar syrup (it's well worth the trouble to make up a batch of simple syrup), and 1 oz fresh key lime juice. Shake in an ice-filled shaker, strain into a pre-chilled martini or other stemmed glass. Regular lime juice works well too, as long as it is fresh. An island vacation in a glass.

    Good luck!

My drink of choice is a frozen raspberry daiquiri! Or, if it's too cold, a Black Forest (hot chocolate + chambord + vodka + whipped cream)!

    Raspberry Daiquiri

    In a blender, combine:
1 part rum (or more if needed!)
    3 parts Daily's Raspberry Daiquiri/Margarita mix
    1/2 a ripe banana

Fill blender w/ice and blend until smooth

    Black Forest

    1 cup hot chocolate
    1 shot vodka
    1 shot Chambord
    Whipped cream on top

Oh! Then there's a Brandy Alexander (how could I forget this one!)

    Brandy Alexander/>

    2 scoops vanilla ice cream
    1 shot brandy
1 shot creme de cacao (spelling???)
1/4 c cup whole milk or half & half (or enough to make it a thick milkshake consistency)

Blend, Sprinkle nutmeg on top & serve!

Then, there's S*x on the Beach--my favorite drink in college (not the one made w/cranberry juice, the one w/chambord, melon liqueur, and vodka)...

We're not big wine or champagne drinkers, we go for the mixed variety

OK, Dorothy and Francy. I know you're in when I finish!

I've got to try that geniune Key Lime Daiquiri. I can taste it already.

I love Chambord. I love hot chocolate! I love vodka! Yes, and I love whipped cream! I've GOT to make that one. I'll be cheating when I do that one, won't I. Oh, well! By the time I get done, I won't care.

Thanks, guys. Keep them coming. When we did this on the pool board, I got lots of recipes!

All those sounds nice. I'd settle for starting with a drink of water from our new kitchen sink faucet cooled by ice from our new refrigerator. When I'm finished the glass would go into our new dishwasher. Boring or sentimental? Perhaps practical. I might not have had time to go shopping.
