Kitchen Island Table

I am remodeling a pretty small eat in kitchen that is approx 12' x 15'. The kitchen will be laid out in an L shape. I am thinking about using a 30" base 3 draw cabinet as a kitchen table/island. The "tiland" will have a 36" x 52" laminate top (11" overhang on three sides). Due to space limitations, I am thinking about making it movable (felt sliders). I plan to keep two chairs along the 52" span and one on each end of the 36" span. The 52" span will be up against the wall most of the time, as it is just me and my son, but when guest come over, we can pull it out for the extra space.

Does anyone have anything similar?

Any drawbacks to having this setup?

I really like the idea of having the extra storage under the table, as well has having the extra workspace. Not sure if the 11" over hang is really enough. Also, any idea if the overhang needs supporting?

Thanks for any advise.
