The pad is independent to the rug. You just put the pad in place and put the rug on top. As far as size, you can buy the same size or a little smaller. To clean. just lift like you would your rug. I lift both at the same time.

You can pick up pads reasonably priced at places like Home Goods or BB&B that have a open weave appearnce. These work fine. My newest rug pad is more like padding for wall to wall carpeting and was a little pricey. I have a combination of both in my home. No complaints with either.

You can also find them in the rug/flooring sections of Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Any of the other big box stores probably carry them, too.

You can buy inexpensive rubber grid-type pads at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and then just cut them to size. Generally, it's recommended to cut them 1"-2" smaller than the rug, on all sides. Just lay the pad on the floor and lay the rug over it. Done!

Organic, do those really stop the rug from slipping? My ssmall oval braided kitchen rug is constantly skating. I'm lucky I haven't taken a tumble.

I have several of that type under my area rugs and runners they work wonderfully. I got mine at BB and B.

Another store you can get them is at Linen's 'n Things. At least where I live you can use the BBB 20% off coupons at LNT and vica versa and there is no expiration, plus you can use up to 4 coupons for visit.
