pump water failure

Hello all,

I have a flotec pressure mate pump i bought off ebay. The unit seems in good working condition.........but i just don't know. I purchased the pump for better water pressure in the house. "The problem", the pump has an LCD light (water failure) that comes on as its building pressure. The manual says that the light indcates a lack of water to the pump. However, I know the pump is getting water, and it's somewhat under pressure from what I see as I bleed the air to prim it. I have a check valve on the inlet line, but I do not have a pressure relief valve on the discharge line. Once the water failure light comes on the pump needs to be reset.....again and again........

The pump is being gravity fed by a 2500gl water tank. The inlet and discharge of the pump are both 1". The tank had an existing 1" outlet so I maintained the 1" line from the tank to the pump. However the line to my house is 1 1/4" (exsisting pvc) so within 5' of the pump discharge I went from 1" into the 1 1/4" house line.

Any help would much appreciated, Thanx.

marc
