Varying counter depth Question

I have a wall where at least part of the counter cannot be full depth. The current design has a 24 inch section at 18 inches deep and that section will house a bar sink (11 inch round). To the left of that, another section will be 39 inches long and butts into the wall. This will be the snack counter and my coffemake and toaster will probably be located there.

My question is, should I recess the 39 inch section to be full depth if I have the ability to do that, or do you think it will look funny? Either way I will have full depth cabinets on that section, so its just a matter of where to place the backsplash wall.

Do you mean you're recessing the cabinets, but maybe not the counter? Will you have uppers above?

Sorry I don't have a way to post a disagram from work, but I'll try to explain it better. I will have cabinets that wrap the outside of a corner, like an L shape, where the short side of the L is only 45 inches long. The depth of the cabinets on the short side of the L will prevent the first 24 inches of cabinets on the long side from being full depth. After that, I will have the full 45" depth to work with. My plan was to have full depth lowers and uppers in that section. So I can either recess those cabinets into the wall and have full depth cabinets but 18 inch deep counters on the whole side, or I can bump that section of the wall back and get full depth counters and cabinets. The back of the bumped back section would then not line up with the first 24 inch section.
