Do you want them to match? They don't have to be exactly the same, if you don't wan them to be, but they should probably have elements that coordinate.

My living room and dining room are open to each other, separated by an archway. What I did was put the same white wood blinds on all windows. Then I have curtains up on the same kind of rods. The curtains themselves are different, but both simple with just rod pockets, no fancy details. The living room has nubby gold colored curtains, the dining room has pink and yellow (and other colors) print curtains. ThIs way, each room is different, but they relate to each other. Also, if you go with simple rod pocket curtains, it's relatively cheap and easy to switch out by season, whim, etc. If you can sew a straight seam, you can turn any fabric into simple curtains.

Thank you! That's kind of what I was thinking, but it's good to hear someone else second my thoughts. :) Since everything is open to each other it will all have the same color scheme.

They don't have to match...they have to coordinate.

I think you can have them match if you want to, but coordinating will work too.

I have a set up similar to this, but instead of a fireplace I have French doors on that wall. I used different fabrics for the long panels. A linen embroidery in the family room and a stripe in the eat in kitchen. The fabrics share all the same colors, so they complement one another.
