Liebherr VS. Sub-Zero Fridge

Does anyone here have experience with both? The Leibherr is about $2k cheaper and the specs look pretty similar.

The size we're looking at is 36W X counter depth.

You can read lots of reviews of both over on the Appliances forum. The similarities lie in their dual compressors, I believe, which is apparently a superior design.

I have a Liebherr and can say that it's hands down the best fridge I've ever had. They used to have issues with the icemakers, but we didn't get a model with an icemaker, and we've had zero problems in 3 years. Quietest refrigerator ever, and it keeps produce incredibly fresh. I was just saying how much I love it this morning at breakfast.

Which model are you looking at for the sub zero? I have a 36SXS not sure if that is what you're talking about. All I can say is that I love it, and the 24/7 customer service is very nice although I've only used it to register the product. In my opinion and part of the reason I went with sub zero was because I really like the way they look, the Liebherr I looked at seemed too..."modern" maybe? I'm not sure but I didn't really feel the same attachment. I was also swayed by friends who have had their sub zeros for 15-20 years and have never had a problem and rave about them constantly. I'm very happy with the purchase and if I moved I'd buy another sub zero for sure. But when it comes down to it, your budget and your needs have to be #1 in this decision.

    Love my Liebherr.

In my 24" size, the price difference was HUGE, but I would probably have chosen it anyway. Sub Zero is, for me a bit, de trop, you know?

Also my Liebherr's sticker claims it uses something crazy like $36 in electricity per YEAR. Exciting if true.

We bought a 30" Liebherr but it's not installed yet. Have always liked the look of Sub Zeros but they were far more then we could spend. The first time I saw the Liebherr I knew I could achieve the same look with alot less money. I happen to love the look of them and have heard great things about them.

Absolutely positively ADORE my Liebherr free standing frig. Keeps perfect temp.

My dream kitchen - not the one I am currently renovating - has a Liebherr in it.

Count me in as another Liebherr fan. My neighbor first showed me his and then we bought one when we renovated our kitchen. I couldn't be happier and their customer service is wonderful. You actually speak directly to a VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE representative from this country.

Wow, where's the SZ fan club? I only read about the Liebherr about a year ago, and it was here. It sounds like they're pretty much equivalent.

You know, I was sad that a Liebherr 24" undercounter drawer set wasn't on the market.

    SIGH.

    I Heart Liebherr.

    I have a 48" side-by-side Liebherr. LOVE IT!!!

I know this is not the size you are considering, but my only caution is that the fridge side of the Liebherr is smaller than SZ in 48". Liebherr has that distinct European feel - read more frequent trips to the store, but it's an excellent refrigerator. Just pay attention to the layout of both before you decide.

don't have a comparison to Liebherr to offer, sorry. But I LOVE my subzeros (I have separate fridge and freezer units). quiet, quiet, quiet! and I happen to love how everything is configured in my units for placement of foods (crisper drawers, deli drawer, door bins, etc.). Obviously cost may come into play here, but if you can stand in front of the two units you are considering, it may sway you one way or the other just by how you want to put food in it! Look at the height of the units (may impact you based on height/reachability). I cannot believe how well produce lasts in my SZ.

I wanted a 30" counter depth unit, so the choice was pretty much Leibherr or Sub Zero. Looked at both - two things really stood out to me on features:

    1. The freezer: the Leibherr has a swing door, then removable drawers. Access is easy: you can stand in front of the thing and pull out what you want, or you can simply pull the whole drawer out and put it on the table. The SubZero is one huge freezer drawer, with another inside it. You can't see what's in there half as well as in the Leibherr set up, plus you have to bend over the drawer front to get at anything.
    2. The Leibherr handles have a little 'push' mechanism to release the very tight seal. Whenever I have used SZs, I hated the very hard tug you have to use to get the doors open - makes my arm ache, frankly.

Plus, two independent appliances stores I talked to said they'd had no maintenance issues with Leibherr, but scores with SZ.

Those things, plus price, made it a total no-brainer decision.
Two years later, still loving my Leibherr.

I have a 27" SubZero with two bottom drawers. Liebherr was not available at the time. I have one ot the Subzeros that had coils made of a bad batch of copper so I do have about $600 in service and parts in it in seven years.

Next time around if I do built in, I will do larger than 27". If Leibherr has a non french door model with 2 exterior drawers I might do that. If Subzero has a 30" with two exterior drawers, I might do that.

Right now I would probably do a Liebherr with the door and the separate interior drawers rather than the Subzero with the lowish freezer and the separate interior drawer.

I like my SZ but it was expensive and I have had service on it.

My previous home, which I now rent out, has a SZ 211RFD that was installed about 25 years ago. It has operated all that time and only had a couple of repairable problems in the past couple of years. Now, however, it is terminal and I need to replace it. I've identified the Liebherr CS-1611 and the Northland 30TFW (made in Michigan) as possible alternatives because of the cost of the SZ BI-30U/O (I'd like to re-use the overlay panel that matches my cabinets, but will give that up and go with stainless steel because that feature isn't worth the additional SZ cost.

Does anyone know whether I could order either of those and be confident that it would fit into the built-in area currently occupied by my SZ? The cabinets are by Coppes-Napanee, and still in very good shape. I really don't want to get a refrigerator that requires cabinetry retrofitting to install it.

I'm inclined toward the Liebherr, but does anyone know anything pro/con about the Northland?

    Help please!
Need a 24" or 27" FULLY integrated fridge. Very concerned about quiet noise as its an open kitchen. Looking at Blomberg, Liebherr and SubZero.
    Any advice?
