Rearranging it all

What items would you say have made their home in many different rooms either in the same house or in different houses? For instance, have you used a dresser as a sideboard? Or art that moved from one room to another? Some of the art from my large master bedroom (actually the entire attic of my previously owned 80 year old house) is now in a bathroom in this AZ house.

Thanks!!

I once used the bookcase that was part of DD's french provincial style headboard repurposed into a hutch in my kitchen.

I've got a gorgeous antique oval mirror that has been in the DR, the LR, and the MB of my old house, and now hangs in the master bath of this house.

A rattan/wrought iron bistro set has been in my bay window in the LR, in the library, on the deck, and now is living in the guest room.

Are you asking about rearranging or repurposing items? I pretty much put things where I want them and they stay there. I may switch them around until I find their best location is all. Not very creative, I know. I think repurposing is fabulous, but I can't think of any instance where I've done it myself.

My first thought too was repurposing. Got rid of my huge entertainment center, but couldn't just let it go. My son cut the top in half lengthwise (spanded across the two ends) and am using them as wall shelves in my art room. The ends are on their sides being used as art board storage and paints. This also made a great long work table. Tis' a high end furniture art room now.

I change artwork from winter to summer in most of my rooms along with other items. Not a holiday decorator, just cozy up or lighten up. And am so ready for spring.

    I use a small sideboard as a dresser. I have a glass-door china/curio cabinet that I use as a barrister bookcase for books/cd storage.

Our sideboard is in the DR but is stuffed to the gills with the kids' art supplies.

Armoire that is used in the play room for toy storage.

I've had a small smoking stand that was my dad's for many years. It made a great place to store the extra tp in my previous home's guest bath where there was no cabinet. In our new house it sits beside my chair here in my office area. It's painted a soft creamy gold color that my mom put on it many years ago. It amazes me how this small piece keeps fitting in someplace and the color is perfect. I'll find a spot for it simply because of sentimental value, but it's worked in beautifully so far.

I love moving things around! My art has moved around from room to room almost yearly. A very old painting of San Isidro (Saint Isadore) used to be the focal point in my family room. With our recent remodel, he's now rehung in the dining room. I needed something much larger once we replaced the big EC with a tv lift console and needed to cover more of a huge bare wall. I've been using my DH's childhood dresser to hold linens and candles in our dining room. I'm now very ready to replace it, though. I'm even using our antique kitchen work table now for a nightstand in our mbr.
