Bathroom with no windows

Does anyone have a suggestion for a paint color for a bathroom with no natural light? Currently it's just a basic builder vanilla with neutral floors and creamy cabinets. Just kind of blah. I used Palladian Blue in the last house with a similar situation but had white subway tile and a glass-block shower...loved that room; however, I used the same blue in a bedroom across the hall and don't want to re-use it here. Any ideas? I'm kind of concerned with people needing to do make-up and all....thanks so much! I do love color....but don't want it to look tacky!

Love Palladian blue...I used it in our exercise room.

We have an interior guest bath and used kahlua and cream on the wall which is lovely and warm.

You could go a little more peachy as those colors make everyone look their best, like sweet salmon.

My wild-a**ed powder room is also interior and it's adobe orange with soft fern on the ceiling.

My bath doesn't have a window either and I ended up wallpapering it. It has a white background with a dainty floral design with pinks and greens. I love it because it adds a lot of extra light to the room, and so far it hasn't peeled due to the moisture.

My accessories are the same colors, so they add to brightening the room also.

I have a wild-a**ed interior, TINY powder room too, which is painted a very dark purple. It was a safe lavender for a few years but then I had to get bold. I like it better now!

If you're concerned about makeup, try a dark peach or coral. I have a great light terra cotta in my dining room called Milk & Honey (one of the Ben Moore Affinity colors) that might be a nice option.

I was SO hoping someone would say pink-y or coral....I was thinking some Florida pink/coral color. There is a Benny Moore color called "Florida Pink" but it's seriously saturated color....and I'd do that purple, too, for sure in a powder room...my powder room is a black patterned wallpaper and I love it! Can't take credit for it, but it's the one room I'm not changing! I'm looking at wallpaper (grasscloth) actually for one wall in my master bedroom....really excited about it. This is after, of course, I promised myself that I would never use it again....hmmmmm......gosh, you guys, thanks so much for your suggestions....and I'll continue to glean the great advice as always on this forum! Love the idea of the painted ceiling. I'm big on that myself!

Have you thought about adding a solatube "skylight" to get some natural light in the bathroom? You can search here or on the builing forum for some photos and comments.

No window in my downstairs bathroom and I used SW Svelte Sage on the walls.

I have a very very tiny 1/2 bath and it is painted in a terra cotta. All the trims are a rich cream. There are numerous mirrors all over the walls to reflect the light when it is turned on over the sink. That is the only light. A tiny Victorian pedestal sink and small toilet. I LOVE this tiny bath. c

I do too, trailruunner. You are a smarty pants. Haven't seen that color at all lately.

Gorgeous, trailrunner.....I was thinking on those lines, about that tone, anyway (if that makes any sense). All I worry about is someone trying to look at doing makeup with some weird color behind them....I know that some colors are tough for bathrooms....you guys are wonderful, as usual. Can't do a solatube in there...not possible with the roofline or with covenants. Really strict around this neighborhood. But we couldn't do it anyway with the roof (I thought of it before....lol). Sueb20, what color did you use? Do you remember? thanks, all! If I can ever figure out the whole picture-posting thing, I'll be all over this place....

ellie: haha...haven't painted in 6yrs and this bath was done 10 yrs ago !! I have no intentions of painting in this house again as I have to hire someone and the person I really liked has retired ..sigh. But the real reason is that I still love all the colors I chose back then : Glad you like it !!

Thank you gigi..please do post pics. It is easy and there is a tutorial on the forum. All you do is put your pix on a host site like Photobucket. Then below each pic is a drop down box and select the 3rd line and cut/paste it inside your message here...voila..picture appears when you choose to preview the message. Hope to see pics soon !!

trailrunner - I love that little table between the wall and sink. I may have to try something like that in my powder room, but my space is tighter. It would certainly expand the non-existent landing space issue with a pedestal sink.

I love it too ! This 1/2 bath is 33" wide and 80" long ! It has a pocket door. I can't believe how much room I got by taking out the standard wooden unit that a sink was originally sitting in. Suddenly I had so much space. The table is 13 1/2 " diameter and 23" tall. It is a "sun/moon/stars" motif on the top. It came from some little catalog years ago that a person at work had on her desk. Have no idea now. It is not very strong at all but serves the purpose. The whole little bath is "sun /moon/stars" even the soaps ! I am glad you like it and hope you solve your space issue. c

Gigi, my dining room color is called Milk & Honey-- it's a Ben Moore Affinity color. It actually looks very similar to trail's powder room.

Designer Phoebe Howard used Sherwin Williams "White Dogwood" sw6315 -- perhaps this one?
