soap dispenser question

Is there a soap dispenser that you can fill without having to crawl under the kitchen sink and unscrew the bottle, fill it and crawl under again to screw it back on? It is always way in the back, you can't see it,can't get it rethreaded on the sink without spilling or getting a flashlight. That's why I was debating if getting one. I hate the Softsoap bottle sitting by the sink but crawling under there is for the birds. Anyone have a solution?

    Mollie,

I have a $14 SS Soap dispenser from HD that approximates the $220 Blanco SD that matches my faucet, and it just fills easily from the top. The faucet lifts up and voila soap goes in tickety boo!

It comes in several different finishes, has solid brass construction, and I think lots of us here on GW have the same model.

We don't have one but I hear the Never M T (I think that's how you spell it) is a good option. It is a tube that goes from your dispenser straight to a bottle of soap under your sink. So you only have to replenish or replace the bottle very infrequently. Maybe someone who has one will chime in and give a more accurate description.

My Moen fills from the top, too. You don't even have to unscrew the pump, you just lift it out and fill it...tickety boo as raehelen puts it!:) Mine cost a lot more than hers did though. Dang.

My KWC Primo fills from the top. I think most new dispensers do.

I had a "well duh" moment after making a huge mess trying to screw in the full soap dispenser from underneath when I realized all I had to do was lift off the top. Oh well - you learn something new everyday.

My Moen fills from the top too, but it almost always overflows :(

I can't believe that no on gave you

    the obligatory NeverMT link

The NeverMT is a conversion kit for soap dispensers.

Basically, it's a plastic tube that leads from the underside of the soap dispenser down to the jumbo-size bottle of dishwashing liquid you bought at Sam's Club.

It comes w/ four (or so; can't remember) caps w/ predrilled holes for the tube to fit snugly in. The caps are in every standard size that soap bottles come in, so you can use the little wimpy bottles, too, if the jumbo size is too big to fit in the underside of your sink.

It also comes w/ a Velcro strap you can screw to the back or side of you cabinet; the strap will wrap around the soap bottle to keep it from tipping over or getting scooched around.

However, the predrilled holes in the caps fit so snugly that if you tipped the bottle over, it would take a while for soap to seep out.

It's pretty cheap--$8. The shipping is almost as much, so..... buy 3, get 1 free, and give the extras to your friends who are also redoing their kitchen (or as Christmas presents).

You'll still have to get under the sink when the bottle runs out, but if you can fit a jumbo size, it make take you a year or more to use it up. And you don't have to do anything other than unscrew the cap and switch it to the new bottle (well, unless you change bottle sizes and need a different-size cap--but you store the caps right ON the hose, so you won't even have to remember where you stashed them).

This is the world's greatest gadget.

While there are top fill bottles (I'm pretty sure the one we picked was, although I didn't know it when I ordered it and the never MT), the openings are small enough that I doubt the three guys in my house could fill them without making a mess, and I'm sure that I would on occassion. We decided to put a Never MT on both the prep sink and main sink and got the big warehouse size soap bottles. The main sink is down to about 30% full after 15 months and the prep sink is still at about 65% full. Just not having to worry about it for so long is worth it to me. And when you do have to pull out the empty bottle, all you do is stick the tubing into the new one and go -- no crooning or twisting or lying on your back to get a bottle unscrewed and screwed into place. So, even with a top fill bottle -- I think the Never MT is worthwhile.

Yes, KWC makes fabulous soap dispenser that top fill, work without diluting the soap and don't leak back on themselves. More expensive than some others, but well worth it.
