I need new lighting in my kitchen. We have an old ceiling fan, which is not only ugly but it doesn't work anymore. We also have one recessed light over the sink (which isn't centered) and track lighting behind a beam.

While this certainly isn't my dream kitchen, it is livable for now until we decide if we are going to put an extension on and ultimately remodel the kitchen.

I am thinking of putting in recessed lights, as we need lighting and that is what I ultimately want. I had an electrician come who suggested five 6" cans. Does anybody even use 6" cans anymore? I wanted 5", but that will ultimately cost more, because I will need at least 2-3 more cans.

He also suggested replacing the light over my sink with a pendant that he would center.

Unfortunately, I have a skylight over my table, so I can't put a pendant there.

Anyway, I hesitate to post these pictures, but here is my kitchen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
