Ansylbrite Quartz

My A&S pool will be plastered this month. The contract included basic Marbelite (sp?) plaster for 500 sf. I can upgrade to the Ansylbrite saphire color for $1687. Is this worth it? Does anyone have this color and how do they like it?

    Anyone?

we upgraded to the granite ansylbrite quartz... they had the sapphire in the indoor showroom, it gave off a nice blue color even indoors with no sky to reflect... i also was in a pool in a hotel and it had a similar looking plaster and it looked nice... not too blue, but bluer than just plain white... we went with the granite becuase we wanted something darker it was 3600 for 800 sf... a neighbor of mine got the emerald and i dont really like it...too green

Thanks jfilaset. Is yours smooth on the feet? Any stains? We wound up choosing the saphire ($3.65/sf) to be plastered this Saturday. We considered the enerald but worried it may look too much like algea.

we are having ours done tomorrow but my neighbor says his feels smooth, and the hotel pool i was in felt very smooth..

jfilaset....so how did your pour go?...any pictures?
How do you like the color.

It went well, any mottling so far, doesnt bother me at all, actually looks nice... the pool is about 1/3 full... wont have start up until wed so i wont know the true color until all the chemicals do their thing... ive seen the post fill pics of other peoples pools and the water is kinda greenish and gross until everything is up an running..ill keep you posted..i did stick my feet in the spa and it has a nice feel to it some texture but not at all rough...

Nice pool!! Well, our Saturday plaster appointment was cancelled today, rescheduled for Thursday next week. They claim that the contractor doesn't have the product on hand--so much for swimming by 4th of July. I'm going to call and see if i can get them to provide the water at no/low cost to speed things up (we have a fire hydrant within 300' of the house).

I see you both have A&S pools. When did you sign up with them?.......we are in PA & we have had such a horrible experience with them. How was yours? hope yours was better then ours.

we are in PA too and the whole process has been very stressful, but A&S really has been good about everything... most of the holdups and stuff were due to things unrelated to them...we signed in february...they started digging april 2nd they hit major rock (we expected this) need two days of rock removal...so that set us back a week... then after rebar was done we had those major storms and because of the way our yard was graded the hole almost filled all the way up, had to rent pumps to keep it from over flowing....then the township took forever to inspect the steel... another week lost... then they came over to check the pressure before plaster and discovered a leak in the spa line (was caused by the guys doing the pavers when they dug the diving board jig...this was an outside landscaping company)...A&S sent someone out right away and they were able to fix it without having to tear up the deck.... im just glad its finally filling up and i can sleep again (hopefuly)... but all the way through A&S was really responsive and willing to make everything right..

I must say our experience has been positive compared to what I expected. We signed in 10/06. Everything but the plaster was done by 11/06. But then, our deck cracked and needed replacing-they took care of the problem quickly. Due to our clay soil and lots of rain the grading wasn't done until 4/07. I then had problems with putting up a fence which didn't finally get done until last week. This part was totally on us and not A&S. In this county, A&S will not plaster until the fence is 95% complete and now we've been delayed on plaster.

Were are you both located? We are in Bucks county/Jamison area, so we are dealing with the Doylestown office. Our dilema started with our sales guy. He misleaded us& then the problems mounted from there & I am not even finished yet. Good luck to both of you. Keep those pictures coming!! Do you have a picture of the plaster up close? THANKS!!

we are in montgomery county.... also dealing with doylestown... we got our salesman from the montgomeryville office, his name was hal, he was the best guy, he was one of the reasons that everything went ok... he was very responsive and really took care of everything for us..he built 6 other pools in our development and is friends with our neighbor who was the landscaper that did our pavers....also shari our project manager has been really good and made sure everything was done correctly... we almost bought a pool last year from carlton but the sales guy was so sleazy and we felt so uncomfortable we cancelled the contract....
good luck, i just hope nothing blows up when they start up on wed.. im so relieved to finally be done...
ill try and get a pic of the plaster tomorrow

We're in AA County, MD. I'm dealing with the Laurel, MD office. My project manager told me that they're unusually slow this year and are finishing pools in 21 working days.

jfilaset.......how is it coming along? Are you loving the color? Anything you would change?

Jfilaset.......any new pictures after start up. Just got mine done today, it looks pretty light to me. Does it get darker after start up? Thanks for update..any new pictures?

it gets darker as it fills.... ill try and get some new pics this weekend... i thought the same thing as they were doing it, but it def got darker... it still is getting darker as i brush... also it seems to be getting more mottling then i had in the beginning...once the water clears up it gets nice and blue

here are the pics after start up and with clear water...everything is finally done except for the diving board (they brought a white one instead of the tan one we ordered to match the pavers)... the water def. got darker and bluer after startup

Your pool looks beautiful. I would like something similar, but I'm wondering if there will be any problems with the decking in the winter when the ground freezes.

there is an expansion joint between the pavers and the pool...it is some sort of foam brushed over with polymeric sand to allow for expansion..so hopefully there shouldnt be any problems

Our pool was installed in 2005 and we chose the same granite ansylbrite. I am very happy with the finish, although I probably would have opted for something a little darker.

Like any plaster finish you will need to brush it regularly after the installation. Ours is very smooth to the touch.

Otherwise, we are now in our third season and couldn't be happier with it.

BTW - we also used A&S

I should probably update the photos since my landscaping has come on. Below is a link to older images.

My plaster is going in today, I'll post up pictures once done, but that blue looks really good.

I'm also in PA btw. My sales man was Jim Nearhoof. Pretty good for the most part, although he was misleading on a few things.

Looks like the above are new installations but I have a question concerning replastering.

My A&S 20 year old pool needs work now. Quote of $10k for ansylbrite, $12k for granite or onyx. Plain white plaster is $8.3k. Limited tile work. I think this seems high.

Any readers have experience or similar costs. BTW I am in Bucks County in PA

Okay guys. I signed the a/s papers. I still have to choose a finish. Was thinking of the Granite. We had gone and looked at a pool with the Granite finish but it seemed too gray and not blue enough. It must be stated that it was a cloudy day. I assume the sun changes things???

Questions: How much for your pool? What size and Would you have done anything different?

    I am putting in 1050 square...spa included

    Thanks
