kitchen sink location

My kitchen is pretty small ~ about 10' X 10'. I have a 40" casement window on the sink wall, the 10' wall. I can have 6" more cabinet space if the sink (a single bowl) isn't centered ~ about 6" off center. I can center it, but I'll lose 6" of cabinet space. I would love to hear from anyone who either has a kitchen sink that's not centered or has seen one like that? Does it look weird? Thanks!

No pics for you, sorry, but I do remember one trick people have used is to use a faucet that's offset from the sink but centered on the window. Centering the faucet does seem to boost the symmetry.

No pics again but....what if you went with one of those single bowl D sinks and put the faucet on the side with less cabinets which should give the overall look symmetry. You could put the sink in a smaller sink cabinet possibly freeing up more space for more useful cabinets too. I think this would be ideal for a smaller kitchen. Our kitchen is quite a bit larger and we seriously contemplated single bowl D sink

Hi giraffe72 - I had a similar issue with my kitchen and decided to offset my sink from the window. With the sink centered under the window the space between my range and sink would have been pretty tight. We moved the sink over so it aligns with the right side of the window and that doubled the space between the sink and the range. I am so glad we did this because that area has turned out to be my main prep space and I like the way it looks too.

This picture was taken while the kitchen was still in progress (no uppers, no fridge, etc), but you can get the idea about the sink placement.

Thanks for the pic and the input. Gryane, I think your sink looks great without putting it under the center window. Your kitchen is so spacious. Aloha2009, I love the D shape sink idea. Maybe, with a D shape, I can off set the faucet and center that under the window. I want to put a garbage pail under the sink cabinet, but I can probably fit both in a 30" cabinet. I appreciate the great ideas.
