Namely, are they really better at "Detoxifying" than normal sauna?

Hmm, I was browsing through the Costco catalog and wondered about this myself-- would an infrared sauna have the same feel to it as a traditional one with hot coals?

Infrared sauna are awesome. I've used one several times and it gets you sweating faster with a lower heat level. As for the detoxifying effect I guess it works, however if you look at a lot of the websites they will say it cures just about every condition. I want to buy one as my next major purchase. Did not know Costco had them, will have to look.

I've been looking at different saunas online but can't find feedback on them like I can on spas. Does anyone have one that they would like to recommend or comment on? Different websites have conflicting information about what is best. They all do agree on the awesome health benefits of the infrared heat. I'm attracted to the lower cost and ease of moving them compared to a spa, with a lot of the same health benefits.

I saw this brand at the California State Fair and talked to the dealer. This is the only brand made in the USA. If you click on the link attached to this link, which has better prices you will see a link to some of the saunas made in China and the problems they have had. You can get a cheap one for 1K with free shipping, however it might have faulty wiring or might be toxic. This one is really well constructed. However skip the cd player if possible, the dealer at the fair repairs pools and spas as his regular job and says they always go out due to the high heat. Instead just put a boom box on top of the unit.

We plan to buy one and put it under our awning outside by the pool. I tried to see where the Costco one was manufactured. Couldn't find it.

I believe that we should all adopt new technologies! Infrared sauna is an excellent solution for a physiotherapist's office or for a spa. But in my opinion, the traditional sauna is more suitable for home. I take a home sauna as something to relax, and an infrared sauna is more like a medical procedure. I do not think that we should abuse infrared radiation. After all, if I had a home infrared sauna, I would definitely abuse this hahaha. I love saunas!
