side note: hey, walkin--have you shipped my beautiful craigslist furniture yet? :) (you know what I'm really asking)

Hey, Fly! Love the way your house is working out... you must be happy, too.

No on the craigslist. (: DH vetoed it. But guess what? We found a wooden bed for .....drum roll.... $150! Not our forever bed, just a "right now" -- but for $150 we can use it for a while and then re-Craigslist it when we find the perfect one, don't you think? It looks kind of like the one below, although it doesn't have legs, so it's not as airy. Sits right on the ground, looks blockier and more substantial. A bit too traditional for my taste, but if we surround it with more mod stuff, I think it'll blend in OK. What do you think?

Kinda like this one, too. Hmm, maybe we should add legs: that'd really change the feel!

Here is a link that might be useful: kind of like our bed, but ours is less colonial-looking

Whoops, just to explain: hence my asking tamberc about her bed. I figure I can start saving up for it now. (:

That link takes me to world market, but says "we're working on it"...what's the model name?

And oh well about the furniture. I really liked it--looks like what some contemporary furniture wishes it could be.

I'll be happy about our house when it's all done and paid for and everyone's gone. I've had too many bad experiences with remodeling contractors to allow me to be happy at all right now...sorry to sound like Glum the Lilliputian, but it's based on experience... :(

I meant to add: if you want, go to the baths forum and look up my most recent thread about my ongoing Thermosoft travails...there's some of that experience to which I refer.

Hi Flyleft: it's the Taranto bed, minus the legs. Very classical, not as mod/ern as my own sensibilities.

Glum the Lilliputian! Finally, someone else understands that reference! "We're doomed... we're all going to die..."

Poor Flyleft. I wish you speedy, efficient, honorable contractors, who are as eager to finish up your work and leave as you are for them to do it. We're about to embark on a porch roof remodel, and just getting the damn bids is making us tear out our hair. What is it with these guys?

bump -- tamberc?
