Help please - need a lavender paint

Can anyone out there help? I've been at this for too long as I'm sure many of you can relate :)

I can't seem to find the right lavender for my bedroom. This is beyond frustrating. I'm looking for something very neutral and light in color - I don't want this room to be brighter or darker than the rest of my apartment.

This room has a LOT of sunlight and every color I try winds up looking bright. I'd like to tone it down in there a bit, without going darker. I thought I could do it by going neutral, but I can't seem to make it happen.

So many lavenders are bright, childlike and Easter egg-ish once they are up on the wall. The paler ones tend to look chalk-y.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something that might work in there? I would really like to use BM or SW.

I'm hoping someone might have been thru this with lavender....

What about something like SW Swanky Gray (6261)? This may get you away from the Easter-egg look. Or Veiled Violet (6268)?

Jen--you painted that too this weekend?

I would recommend BM Slip, another Affinity color. I did my 20 year old daughter's rooom. She absolutely loves it. It is neither childish, or PURPLE, but rather a very subtle gray/lavender. It looks almost white in the can, but it dries to a gorgeous color. The photos don't really do justice to this color. I have a couple of photos, room still needs a few touches, but you can get the idea. I don't want any comments about the pictures not being centered, I moved the bed after I snapped the photos!

Wow that's so sophisticated for a 20 year old! Someone (you or she) has great taste.

Tomorrow I'll get some chips of all the suggestions. I just tried a sample of BM Charmeuse which I thought might work but the paint guy told me it's a flesh toned pink and now that he mentioned it.....I think he's right.

The BM Sanctuary looks great in your pic with the dark wood but I'm afraid that's still too rich in color for me. I have white trim that also makes the colors pop brightly even when they're not. I think I need something smokier/duller.

Take a look at Benjamin Moore Lavender Ice. I have a bedroom painted in this color and love it. It reads as almost blue with just a tinge of pink. Perhaps not as dusky as you want?

Try BM Piano Concerto. We had it in our powder room for years and got so many compliments on that color.

I used SW Lite Lavender (6554). Enchant is just below it on the strip(6555) and it has more depth of color to it.

Behr's Amethyst Cream is definitely lavender and very light.

how about BM wet concrete? It's a grayed lavender. Search on GW and you will prob find a few pics.

I just posted pics today of my daughters room which I recently painted with Ellen Kennon's Lilac in eggshell. It's a beautiful color, you'd have to see it in person to appreciate the depth of color.

If you are checking out BM, try 1384. I forget the name, but that is the number.

I too am looking for the same thing for my daughter's room. Everything is too dark or too baby lilac. This is our inspiration photo...almost white...but I can't find it. I think it is BM. Any ideas?? Sounds like the color you are looking for too!

LHK - what about BM Angelica?

I'm looking at that and BM Slip for our master bdrm/bathroom.

This BM flickr album groups the gray'd purples.

Those are some gorgeous rooms! I used BM Violet Pearl (1451) and Hampshire Rocks (1450) in my dining room for above and below the chair rail. I have really enjoyed the colors, they are mellow but definitely lavender (I have grey upholstered chairs and wanted the paint more lav' than grey).

BM Violet Dusk and BM Iced Lavender 1410 are more grayed and muted than BM Lavender Ice 2069-60.

Behr Purple Essence 660E-2 is a beautiful, grayed lavender. Lavender Lace 660E-1 is a lighter shade on the same strip. Pearl Violet 670E-2 leans slightly more toward mauve. A brighter but somewhat shaded lavender suitable for kid's rooms is Behr Lovely Lavender 650E-2.
