Wiremold strips can be used to meet the counter wall receptacle rules.

They require either GFCI receptacles to feed them and provide the required protection, or GFCI circuit breakers feeding them.

Putting the receptacles in a convenient location is often more convenient than having to run to a panel if a trip occurs).

The NEC rule is no place on the counter can be more than 24 inches from a receptacle measured along the wall.

This means a receptacle at lest every 48 inches, but a smaller spacing is allowed.

Any section of counter more than 12 inches wide requires a receptacle.

The area occupied by stoves and sinks is not included.

The receptacles must be feed by two 20 amp 'small appliance' branch circuits, with limited other outlets on those circuits.

Putting Wiremold on a base angled 45 degrees at the back and bottom of the cabinets on the wall seems to work well for a lot of customers.

You will end up with 'dangling cords' for anything you leave plugged in though.

A plug in the backsplash for things that stay plugged in (the coffee maker) are often 'hidden' by the appliance.

Just an idea, if you have subway tiles, might look better if you rotated them 90 degrees to be horizontally lengthwise.

We did what twix6 suggested, and turned the outlets horizontal, and tweaked them so they were in line with a single row of tile. They are not very noticible.
