LOOKING for: Easter Bird's Nest Recipe

I made those Easter Bird Nests with the chow mein noodles and jelly beans a few years ago, but I lost my recipe.

I think my recipe had peanut butter, but I'm not sure. I did a search and found many different recipes (some with butterscotch, some marshmallow cream, some chocolate, etc). Not sure which recipe to use. Any personal favorites?

    EASTER EGG NESTS

    3 drops green food coloring
    1/2 tsp. milk
    1 1/3 c. flaked coconut
    6 oz. white chocolate
tiny jelly beans or pastel M&Ms

In a small bowl, mix food coloring with milk; add coconut and mix until evenly tinted. Set aside. Melt white chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring every 15-30 sec., until smooth. Mix with the coconut mixture and place by spoonfuls on waxed paper. Shape mixture like a bird's nest, making a slight indentation in the center of each. Let nests cool completely, then fill with jelly beans or M&Ms (or even a yellow "Peep" surrounded by jelly beans would be cute!).

    Enjoy!

carla35--I found the one you lost!

    JELLY BEAN NESTS

    2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1/4 c. butter
    1 6-oz. pkg. (4 c.)chow mein noodles

In 2 qt. saucepan, combine marshmallows and butter; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until melted (6-8 min.). Stir in noodles until very well coated. With buttered fingers, press mixture on bottom and up sides of each cup of buttered 12-cup muffin pan. Refrigerate at least 2 hrs. or until firm. Remove from cups; fill with jelly beans.

Here's the one I used last year:

    BIRD'S NESTS CANDIES FOR EASTER

1 bag ReeseÂs peanut butter chips (10 oz.)
    1 Tblsp. solid shortening (Crisco)
1 large can (5oz.) La Choy thin chow mein noodles
1 bag pastel colored M&M peanut candy
Melt entire bag of chips and 1 tbsp. of shortening slowly in microwave or in double boiler on stovetop. If using microwave, heat full power in intervals of 30 seconds at a time and then less as chips begin to melt. You want the chips and shortening to be well blended and creamy and hot. DO NOT OVERCOOK!!! Immediately pour the can of chow mien noodles into the peanut butter mixture and toss lightly to coat noodles. Avoid crunching noodles. Using a spatula can help. Do this quickly, making sure the noodles are evenly coated. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper and gently form into the shape of a nest, leaving a hollowed area in the center in which you immediately place three M&M peanut candies for the "birds eggs". Helps to have two people! Each batch makes approximately 14 nests.

I remember making these in 7th grade. All the recipes I've seen have had chocolate, butterscotch chips, etc. The ones I made had peanut butter, the noodles, and jelly beans. Probably butter too... I'm not sure the amounts though. Can anyone tell me how much butter/peanut butter to use?
