Really, the heat index here is 107. But I do like cabbage soup! I'll try this one. I may add some sausage :)

Thanks for the recipe Shaun... I'm going to try this one for sure. Teresa, don't let the hot weather deter you,,remember, fight fire with fire, it's always the cold climates that have the bland food...and the hot climes the spices and hot sauce.

chi chi beans are chickpeas or garbanzo beans.

Shaun, your recipe sounds much more interesting than mine. My recipe is very old and I have not made it in years but I remember I liked the addition of caraway seed but I don't really get the sugar or Equal now??

Cabbage Soup (6 servings, 48 calories each)

2 slices bacon; chopped
6 cups chopped cabbage
1 medium onion; sliced
1/4 teaspoon dill weed
1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
salt and pepper
4 cups hot water
1 packet Equal

Place bacon in a 3-quart casserole; cover and microwave at high 3 to 5 minutes or until crisp. Stir in cabbage, onion, seasonings and 2 cups water. Cover and microwave at high 10 minutes. Add remaining water. Cover and microwave at high 8 to 12 minutes until vegetables are tender

Here's a cabbage soup that doesn't contain sugar or artificial sweetener. Don't know why you'd need it.

Cabbage Soup

2 lbs cabbage, coarsely chopped
1/2 lb Italian link sausage, sliced
14 oz can beans (any kind, but I use chickpeas ("ceci" in Italian, pronounced "chechi") or great Northerns.
1/4 cup diced salt pork.
1 cup cubed potatoes
1 medium onion diced
1 tsp salt (may not need if salt pork is salty enough)
1/2 tsp black pepper (or more to taste)
6 cups water

Saute salt pork and onions. Drain fat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil and simmer covered for 1 hour. Smash some of the potatoes to thicken soup.

I don't believe WW would have dried soup mix....too much salt.

Oh, sorry but I don't know if this is WW friendly or not.

You can always omit the splenda/sugar if you want.
