I just love figs and my favorite way to eat figs is with simple syrup.

I leave the stem on.
Equal amts of water and sugar, bring to boil over medium heat, drop figs in, and cook until they are soft. I like mine firm, so don't cook mine long.
Then, for my pleasure add some vanilla extract.
Refrig.

Love them figs!! :o)

Thanks gals! Last evening, I removed the stems off of 6 figs, spread a thin layer of goat cheese on slices of the figs, then placed a leaf of fresh basil and topped with a small shred of panchetta..delish!
I'm going to do some tomorrow-by placing a slice of fresh ball mozzarella, then top with shredded hard salami. Also some with Maytag Bleu cheese & panchetta.

Pit and put a slit into a fig and stuff with Marscapone or Creme Cheese and top with a walnut.

Stuff a thin slice of italian or spanish ham into the fig.

Wrap with a slice of bacon and grill

I always have the problem of buying enough figs to have any left over to serve. I eat as many as I stuff!

Today's Los Angeles Times Food section did a feature on figs and had few recipes too. I'm saving the pork and fig recipe to try this week!
