How about chunks of bratwurst on a tooth pick in a chafing in beer with a hot mustard for dipping?

I looked up the history of the Reuben Sandwich and apparantly is was created by a Gernman Jew whos last name was Reuben hence the name. Most of the German website have this under recipes made with corned beef (the original sandwich) not pastrami.

Two popular nibblies at Oktoberfest in our German community are soft pretzels served with a mustard dip and Bratwurst as described by Linda.

I've also seen pickled sausage and pickled eggs served.

I love Reuben sandwiches and they are popular here where very few of our Jewish friends reside. You would be fine to go with Reubens.

Rubens are made with corned beef...never with pastrami.
Corned beef is a very much English new England food...not German at all.
Go Bratwurst or other sausage or pickled eggs, good cheeses work...but not corned beef nor pastrami.
