RECIPE: Maraschino cherry, chocolate drops

I used to make these for Christmas years ago - in the 1960's. They were no-bake, and as I recall the ingredients included melted chocolate chips, chopped maraschino cherries and ....? then dropped by the spoonful and rolled in a dish of coconut. These did not contain eggs or flour. There may have been icing sugar. They were delicious and I would love to make them again. They were called something like Choco-Cherry Balls.

Here is a recipe I have for Choco Cherry Balls. Hope this helps.

Choco Cherry Balls

1 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. canned evaporated milk
2 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. chopped drained Maraschino cherries
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Flaked coconut
Candied cherries, halved

Combine chocolate chips and milk in a heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat until completely melted. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, cherries and nuts. Chill, form into 1 inch balls and roll in coconut. Top each with a candied cherry half. Chill to firm. Makes about 50.

I think that is the recipe. All I could find by searching on the internet was recipes for chocolate dipped balls. This is great. Thanks for posting.
