How many sewing machines do you own and what is your favorite?

I own two and my daughter owns 1 and I like hers the best! It is a Janome 8080. I used to have one just like it but it was replaced by a Kenmore after Sears dropped it. I also have an old White sewing machine. I never use it.

    1947 Singer Featherweight
    1951 Singer 15-91
    1969 Singer Fashion Mate
    Viking Quilt Designer
    Brother Serger

The Viking is my favorite because of its versatility, craftsmanship, and stitch selection. The FW because of its history, simplicity and "cute" factor. The 15-91 because it was the first piece of "furniture" that my parents bought and paid cash for and it is the machine I learned on. The Fashion Mate (a "portable" machine) because my parents gave it to me for my college graduation present - but the dear thing weighs a ton!

    Antique Westinghouse (doesn't work)
    ANtinque Singer (doesn't work)
Juki (this is dedicated to my quilt frame so Love that!)
Singer 15-91 (Electric treadle...fun! Use it for leather & heavy stuff)
    Serger (specific purposes)
    Brother Embroidery machine
Janome something or other (backup basic)
Janome 8080 (This is my main machine and I LOVE IT!! It's my favorite, my workhorse, and sits ready for me at all times!)

I have an old Kenmore and a serger. I used the serger once. Good thing it was a gift (from a sewing friend who also only used it once).

When I get together with my quilt group I get to see and try all the other machines, some more basic, some way more expensive and fancy.

    I'm good with my own.

I have a Viking Lily which is my main machine. I love its ease of use, I also own a Janome Jem gold which I won in a raffle. I don't really have anywhere to set it up except the dining room table so haven't ever sat down to learn how to use it.

Brother PC8500 sewing/embroidery machine - gets the most use
    Brother CS6000 sewing machine
Juki TL98Q straight-stitch only on my quilting frame
White serger - used very, very seldom

I don't think I have a favorite...I like each one for different reasons. Some day I'll sew up the last of the fabrics I have for clothing and sell the serger. It's mostly just taking up space.

I have an Kenmore from the 70's that my grandparents bought me as my first machine - when I was in 4th grade! (They got something for each of their grandkids that would be used for our future.) My mom and I shared this machine till I got married and it came with me. Then 7 or 8 years ago DH bought me a Janome 6500 which I've used ever since. LOVE it!

    1. Elna 6005 Heirloom - "Julia" - this is my workhorse and I love it.
    2. 1950something Singer Featherweight 221 - "Martha"
    3. 1924 Singer - "Dorothy" - belonged to my mother
    4. An old treadle machine - exact age and history unknown - belonged to my Sister-in-Law's grandmother so I call this one "Mrs. Hubble"

Elna Quilter's Dream is my machine at home.
    DD's friend has my serger
    One at DD's in Indiana
    One at DD's in Florida

I really don't care if I ever get the serger back or not.

1932 Singer in a cabinet that was my mom's -- the one I learned to sew on & still use the cabinet opened up to put my Janome on :)

Janome 7000 - when I bought it I thought I had died & gone to heaven! So nice to sew on!! I tried a Bernina when we had the shop, but really didn't like it all that much. (at least not for the $$!)

Some day I'd like to upgrade, but there are a few dozen other projects on my wish list that are higher priority:)

Pfaff 7570 - more machine than I need for quilting but I really do love it. It works & works and works!
Also have a Serger - used it tons when DS was little making clothes for him (he HATED blue jeans, loved those parachute pants that were popular in the 80s/90s!) I could whip a pair in a couple hours - but haven't used it much in the last 8 years. As a matter of fact, I tried to thread it & can't remember how!

My Pfaff 7570 is my standard machine for piecing.

    Hmmm,

    A Singer from the 1950's
    A National from the 1940's
A Consew industrial straight stitch only
    DH's Kenmore from the 1960's
A Singer Touch n Sew from the 1960's
    A Babylock serger
    An Elna computerized serger
    An APQS Millennium long arm

I have a Pfaff which is about 25 years old.
And a Husqvarna Designer 1, embroidery machine. I have never used the embroidery function and the machine is giving me grief so it may be traded in soon.
    I love the Pfaff!

Am I the only person here who names their machines? (blushing)

    Kate

    My treadle- an old White
    1955 Featherweight
My Lock Serger-not used as often as it should be but I like it.
    Jamome 9000 embroidery/quilting features-used as backup now-had a 8000 before this one which I like better.
My newest and main machine is Baby Lock Espire. They no longer make it but has some nice features.
Sorry Kate-thought about naming them but doesn't work for me. lol

    Don't have many machines:

    1. Janome 6600 main machine and just love it
    2. Babylock Imagine serger, love it too
3 Janome Gem for taking to classes, backup, etc
    4. Janome 350E embroidery machine, just learning it
    5. My grandmothers treadle machine, that I have not used in many many many years
    6. A piece of junk Singer I bought when I was "trying out" sewing after a 30 year absence. Don't know what to do with it, I can't bring myself to give it away because it is so difficult to use, won't sell it for the same reason. Any ideas would be welcome?

Murphy, take it to the nearest thrift store. You'd be surprised what people will buy, even for parts.

    I have

    two Featherweights
    Aunt's Kenmore
    Husband's grandmother's small portable Elna
Baby Lock, my main FMQ machine - love it
Brother FMQ machine same as baby lock, on my frame

Don't name mine, Kate. But, only because I haven't thought of names yet. Someday I might.
