Using back corners on countertops

We are remodeling our kitchen. We will have one corner of counterspace again. Anything especially useful for this space? The corner for us is to the right of our sink, then there is counter connected from there down the right hand side, though not a lot of space before the stove. Probably not moving sink, stove, refrigerator, etc. due to space and money. Right now, I feel like that corner isn't that usable. It seems things disappear back there. I keep a big bowl w/ripening fruit in there. Was considering having drawer space all the way to the counter installed under the cabinets there. Have seen this done. Wonder if it's too limiting though. Right now things do disappear back there, but sometimes I do need the space. Anything to get better use of those deep countertop corners? Especially when you are short to begin with? At this point, probably just leaving as is, but any creative solutions out there?

I agree with that being wasted space. In my one back corner I just have a very colourful plate in a plate stand just for decorative purposes and then I use it for serving things with company. What about having a 2' long (the width of the counter) or whatever length takes you to a cupboard edge (if you're just planning that could be done to 2') and have wine cubbies built underneath. Useful but still leaves you with counter if needed.
What is the length from sink to corner and then from corner to range. Are you doing a lower lazy-susan? And what kind of upper cabinets on the range wall - just to the corner or around the corner to the sink.

We have 2 such counter corners in our recently re-done kitchen. We had electric outlets at each corner ane keep the toaster in one corner and the coffee maker in the other. Whenever we want to use them we just slide them out.

We have a lazy susan in the below counter cabinet. The counter corner doesn't get used as much as the rest of the counter, but I keep a clock there and store the ingredients and recipe in that area if we are having a dinner party later.

We have the Lazy Susan below and on the counter top we have our Berville Keurig coffee maker. Fits great.

We keep the MW there, angled across the corner (old kitchen, nowhere else to put it but on the counter). It'd work better if it were a slightly smaller MW and if that weren't my main prep space, but if you have to have a countertop MW, a deep corner is a good place to stash one. Underneath we have a lazy susan.

We have two deep corners and keep the Kitchen Aid mixer in one corner and a very small digital TV in the other that I watch the news on while prepping.

Our microwave is angled in one corner and the Cuisinart, blender, and mixer hang out in the other--gotta pull them forward to use them.

For our current kitchen,.my KitchenAid mixer is in one corner and canisters for potatoes, onions and garlic are in the other. For the new kitchen the mixer will stay on the counter (I use it often) and canisters will go in a cabinet.

If your corner is in between your sink and stove, whatever you put back there should be something you use for prep. KitchenAid mixer. Canisters of flour and sugar (real, working ones). Maybe a countertop lazy susan of spices, or something. If you can, avoid putting toasters or coffee makers in that spot--you'll be fighting for working space.

My "dead space" corner is right between sink and stove as marcolo mentioned ...I put my knife block on the counter with larger knives, scissors, etc...seems to be working great, so far. There when I need them, but not in the way or taking valuable prime counter space

Well, actually glad to hear there's not a lot to do w/this space. We keep a big bowl in that back corner and that's where we put fruit that isn't quite ripe that's come home from store. And my coffee maker and toaster are in that area too. Have to pull the coffee maker out in order to use it in the morning, but I guess the space is serving some job.

I had just seen some cool corner cabinets that go all the way to counter - some vintage kitchens. They looked cool and would get rid of the corner. I just don't think I'll keep the space in front of those doors clear enough at all times in order to make the cabinet door or drawer useful enough.

We do have a lazy suzan spinning cabinet below, and will keep in remodel. I don't think it's perfect, but useful enough and I haven't seen other options I love.
    Thanks for the suggestions.

Some of those "cool" cabinets in the corner aren't as cool as they're cracked up to be. They end up breaking up your continuous countertop surface. I have corners too, in a U shape. Since I don't like lazy susans, I got corner drawers, which I love. But I love the counter corners too. As others have, so do I have my KA mixer in a corner. My canisters are in the corner drawers beneath, so it's very functional. I use that corner, when the mixer is pushed back under the cabinets, for overflow from the stove, for setting filled pans ready for the oven, etc. Something I couldn't do with cabinets to the counter. On the other side, near the clean-up sink, I can stash things I don't want to have in my way in the corner there and still have plenty of room for stacking dishes and pots on their way to be washed.

Yup. Most of the corner counter is useful, usable counter. The very back corner is perfect for your fruit bowl, or display plate or whatever.
