If you can, try and plan your drawer configurations based on work zones and what will be stored in each.

I have both 3- and 4-drawer stacks in my kitchen. The 3-drawer stacks have a shallower drawer on top and then two deeper drawers below.

The 4-drawer stacks have 3 shallow drawers on top and a deeper 4th drawer below. These are next to my cooktop so the shallow drawers are perfect for holding utensils, spices, and rolls of foil and parchment paper.

I love the arrangement of drawers in my baking center. The wide drawer on top holds all my measuring cups and spoons, whisks, spatulas, rolling pins, etc. The drawers below are deep and roomy enough to hold mixing bowls, hand mixer, large measuring cups and all my other baking supplies.
