Hi gb85 - I have luce di luna or quartzite bianca quartzite - I just googled white moon quartzite and it looks like they all may be the same stone. Does your slab have strong linear striations?

I cannot really comment on the divots, I will leave that to the stone experts. My slabs did not have divots, but they did have some rust colouring. I saw slabs with more and less of the rust. We have a few spots of it, it doesn't bother me at all. In fact I like the brownish/slight orange colour, it goes well with my cabinets. I've posted an image below - it is hard to see but there are a couple of small spots on the right hand side of the sink cut out. I did see slabs with larger streaks of rust right through the slab. I can tell you that the small amounts of rust colouring in our slabs didn't seem to pose an issue or concern to the fabricators.

Thanks for responding. Yes the color in your sink looks like what I saw so thankfully it must be natural to the stone. I am hoping someone responds about the green swirls and the divot.

bumping up for stone expert's opinion

I have quartzite too but no divots. I definitely have a lot of veining and many many different colors of gray, greenish-gray, sporadic flecks of a bluish-green and many shades of white.

They can replace divots with a crystal composite to fill if it's big, but the smaller ones can easily be filled with some material (epoxy). I know someone who had a kid who dinged their granite regularly with pots and pans (I urged her to take those ways from her toddler!). On my counter, there was a brown spot that looked like a burn mark but was clearly part of the stone on one of my slabs--they dug it out and filled it in with a color that somewhat matches.

If you love the slab, work around the spots you don't like as best as you can, but if you can find one without the divots, much better I think.

We just installed Mother of Pearl quartzite (which I love!), and we do have just a little bit of rust coloring throughout it as well, but not so much that it bothers me. I love the movement of the stone. We also do have a few very small divots or more like "grooves" in the stone, which tbh I did not even notice until after the slab was installed. I think they can just be typical of quartzite. I did have them fill a couple of them w/epoxy after we were installed, and now they are totally smooth. I would add that we LOVED our slab so much that we felt that any of the minor "imperfections" just added character to it. Go with your gut and if you think that there are too many things that don't sit right with you, I'd keep looking. :) Can you share a picture of the slab?
