Cushions finished

I finished making the cushions on Saturday -I used old fashioned navy blue pillow ticking. It was like cardboard until I washed and dried it.

Shoulda taken a photo right away before they got smooshed by people actually having the nerve to sit on them.( me! the chairs are very comfy) I may need to redo them at some point- the mistakes show up more on camera than IRL- but they do bug me.I dug out an ancient from the 40's down bed pillow made of ticking that I may use for pillows on the sofa. The flash threw all of the colors- the table is BM Revere Pewter- and the rug colors are not dead.

Deciding what to do/ replace/ move around/find next!

oh the black dog is my DD's newly adopted 3yr old lab Tucker- Cooper and Bailey have accepted him into the pack!

Beautiful job!!!! Perfect copycat and a great way to break up an all white room. I remember you got a great price on them. The one I saw advertised here was $100 for a single chair. Are the chairs comfortable? Do the cushions make them so?

The dogs looks happy about the whole thing.....:0) Nice!

Fabulous job! Way to go. I'm loving the look of your house and how you are finding inspiration from photos; that's how I work, too. Your home looks so cozy, especially with the three dogs. We adopted a rescue in December, so now we have three, also. All 'round, I'm impressed by you and what you're doing at home.

Now THOSE are some good looking cushions! Very nice work, CB. About the "flaws": FORGET ABOUT THEM! As Julia Child once said, "There are no mistakes in cooking. Just don't mention them to your guests. Serve everything with a smile." Or something like that!

Well! I'm just drooling with envy! Those look great! Congrats on a great find!

You are so talented coop!!! They look great and I agree with Sherry (re: Julia's "mantra"--trying to be more like that myself!).

Beautiful job on the cushions, beautiful room, and beautiful dogs!!!

A job well done!! It looks great :)

The cushions look great! Honestly, I don't see any mistakes. It is amazing how close your chairs are to the inspiration pic you posted. They really share the same vibe.

Love what Sherry added about Julia Child! Do that. :O)

I was one of the people that said nah to the chairs. I was very wrong. They look beautiful and great in your room. I love the ticking.

As far as the flaw, I can't see them from here. It thinks it's so neat to be able to say,"Yeah, I made that. I did that." - even when it's not perfect.

Now I want to make cushions or buy fabric. :)

Sue - you did a GREAT job! How do the *boys* like the new chairs/cushions? LOL (I always love seeing them in your pics.)

Incredible job! After just completing my first sewing project ( simple drapes) I can really appreciate the work that went into those cushions. They look amazing.

    Love the retrievers too :)

    You did a great job!

Another envious person here....of your talent and your
beautiful dogs! Love your decorating style.

They look soooo good! I think the cushions look very professionally done- Nice work!

Can you come finish all my over-ambitious sewing projects? I am so crappy at sewing, but I want to do great projects like this :)

Your room was pretty already, and the chairs are a great update!

OMG. Those are fabulous! You did very well, my dear.

BTW, if you keep adding big dogs to the family you are going to have to move some furniture out of the house. I would like first pick. (Still loving the pea soup color on the walls.)

    Beautiful job! So Golden appropriate!

I've always loved pillow ticking. It's a is perfect look on your new chairs....gorgeous!

Thanks all! very fun to come home to after a long, long day at work- just got home from a meeting a 3 hour drive away in the hinterlands.
It feels good to have them done- now I can wash them as necessary like I do the slipcovered sofa- dogs don't get on them, but they lean against them and the arms of the blue and white chair were a bit muddier than I thought! glad thats gone( back to GW where I found it!) Now I don't have to get out the bissel to clean it- just throw in the wash!

Tucker - black dog is now a member of our "dog pack' but he doesn't live here- He lives at DD's boyfriends house- technically he adopted him- but Tucker belongs to both of them.
thanks again for the kind words.

Oh forgot to tell ya! After I bought the chairs- the EXACT same chair as in the house beautiful photo showed up on my CL- sans cushions for $60. I hemmed and hawwed over it- and even after contacting the guy- I decided against it-twice- It is more comfortable having two chairs, and the single had an obvious repair to the side and I like mine more anyway - yeah I know kinda in a b-ugly way- but I love 'em.
But how weird is that to find the exact chair? Not like there is an ugly chair catalog!!!

    They look teriffic. Good job.

    Perfect! Enjoy them! :)

Nice job! Did you sew the cording on separately? I'm still thinking of how I want to do my wide blue stripe - thinking self-welting rather than applied, but your bias tape with the ticking strip is so cute I might buy some ticking just for the welt on the wide-striped fabric.

How did you put the covers on the old cushions when the old ones had cording/welting already?

Great look for some really chunky old chairs!

I think you did such a great job realizing the inspiration picture! You know I just loved that house in HB. You really took that vision and ran with it.

It's always fun to see the babies! :-)

WOW!!!!! I would give my my eye tooth for an iota of that talent!

I love the cushions and I don't think the chairs are ugly!

I love the chair and the cushions.
    Congrats on a great job.

    Thanks!-
My whole purpose was to end up with dog friendly - easy care furniture and when I saw that post with the wood chair and the HB photo I thought bingo that will do nicely so I was thrilled to find similar chairs with good cushions.
I am not sure i like the table there between them although it is convenient- it is painted Revere Pewter but it photos white with the flash. I can paint it or begin looking for another vintage table.
I want to do burlap curtains to replace the cascades and jabots that I made years ago but I want to be more cottagey and not transitional so I am trying to figure out curtain rods.

Spectacular job! I have been doing a lot of cushions and I have to do battle with the tension and stitch size. The old Bernina keeps readjusting itself. It should not be this difficult. Your work is beautiful!
