We went with SW Superpaint with the eggshell finish. Love it!

I used Duration in out foyer and upstairs hall. I wasn't impressed. I'm not sure how long it needs to cure, but I needed to clean a few areas a couple of weeks after painting. I used a microfiber cloth and it took the paint off the wall. I didn't try again for weeks and those marks still didn't come off. When we sold the house 3 yrs later, I didn't find it cleaned any easier than the walls painted in just the basic SW paint (which is so much cheaper). Also, we used satin and it was shinier than I wanted.

I've used all the SW paints. Superpaint is a "best buy", but get an eggshell or satin finish so you can scrub it.

I used the Duration matte in our bathroom. Really pretty finish - the most durable paint SW offers. It's on sale now so when you get it on sale, it's almost the same price as SuperPaint and a much better product. It feels kind of grainy when you rub your hand across it for some reason. But it looks smooth.

I just finished using Cashmere in our bedroom in the low lustre. I was told it's almost as durable as the Duration, but I didn't really care about that because it's just the two of us at home now. You get a VERY smooth, silky feeling surface and a nice glow. But it will probably be shinier than you want-at the store they have samples of what the different finishes will look like.

I think for your situation, I'd recommend the Duration matte - it's also on sale now for around $35 gallon.

Make sure you do two coats for maximum durability. And also don't wipe or scrub it at all for at least two weeks--longer if you have a humid house. If you get marks, just let them stay until the paint has cured. Once cured, it's hard as a rock.

Duration dries very fast, so once you finish rolling a section, leave it even if you notice that you missed a spot. If you try to go back over it after a few minutes, it gunks up the finish. Let it fully dry, then go back and reroll and it looks fine.

In my experience the Cashmere is nowhere near as durable as the Duration. I dislike the Cashmere. I have Superpaint also, but only in closets, so I can't really judge it's durability.

Cashmere is the worst paint I have ever used by Sherwin Williams.in 40 years of using their paints Neither my contractor, painter, or I would ever recommend this paint. Not scrubbable, doesn't cover, bubbles on second coat. Huge disappointment hope I don't have more problems living with it!!!

Wow--my experience with Cashmere has been very positive! I've painted 4 rooms with it recently and love not only how it goes on the walls but its beautiful matte finish. I had no problem with coverage or anything else. As a single homeowner I don't look for a scrubbable paint however.

Stay away from the Cashmere. We had most of our interior painted with it and it's terrible. Our painter used primer and three coats of paint to cover a pretty light color. It's been 3 years since we had it painted and I have never been able to clean scuff marks. I think the finish looks terrible. The SW store Didn't stand behind it despite the painter doing everything the right way.

Before we put our house on the market we had it repainted Accessible Beige using a 5 gallon/$90 contractor/landlord grade paint that covered better, looks nicer and touches up really well!

I have Cashmere on my walls and painted it myself. It goes on beautifully, covers well and looks great -- every bit as great as BM paints. I used Emerald as an accent color because Cashmere doesn't come in quarts. It looks good too, but I have a slight preference for Cashmere's look and a greater preference for its ease of application.

I'm kinda obsessed with SW Emerald matte paint. It's expensive, so I buy it on sale. I love that I can scrub it and if I do retouch an area, it blends seamlessly and I don't have to paint the whole wall. Also, it goes on great if you are painting yourself. I used it in one bathroom and whatever Valspar's high-end line in another. The Emerald went on smoother and only needed one coat, unlike the Valspar.

Good to hear about the SW Emerald. I just bought 5 cans for my downstairs and started to worry after reading some reviews. I chose it because I don't want shiny walls.

We used to have SW Duration & I absolutely hated it. I could not wash it to save my life. It turned me off of SW forever. We just repainted the house in PPG and I'm so much happier with it. With kids Duration was not cutting it.

Cashmere was recommended a few years ago by an SW employee and I hated it! You could not wash it, every little finger print showed. I just went back and couldn't remember what to avoid and the employee suggested Cashmere. I said no I had problems with that paint in the past. They kept pushing me toward it. I think Cashmere is an inferior paint that gouges the homeowner. I will NEVER buy paint from SW again. Instead of saying ok how about super paint, they just acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and pushed the Cashmere on me. I remember I had to repaint all of the Cashmere painted walls because it was so bad.

Can anyone help me with an exterior paint question? I just had my home painted with and exterior low luster super paint from Sherman Williams. I do not like the sheen so is it OK to have them paint two coats of flat over the top and will it adhere?

I just finished a bedroom using Cashmere and it looks HORRIBLE! Very patchy in sheen. Will NEVER use this again. SW employee suggested it and I went along. I have never had problems with SW paint before. Frustrated.

Cashmere is the worst paint I have every used. I have painted my entire house myself and know my way around a roller/paintbrush/sheens ect...I hired this paint job out as I didn't have time to paint and change my house colors for a 3rd time. The paint job was terrible. The painter came back time and time again. I used the High Gloss Pro series for baseboards and Cashmere for the walls. After going in round with the contractor and him not understanding why there was bubbling, cracking, paint peeling, chipping off super easily(he even primed before paint). We sat down to discuss options. I decided I would give it a go to see what was going on. I sanded my walls where in spots it just chipped off and prepped the area with the help of the contractor. The paint by Sherwin Williams looks and covers terrible. Needless to say. The contractor kept his money and I am now left with starting from square one. Next time Ill be using Dunn Edwards or good ole fashion Home depot paint.

Wow...just typed in Duration vs Cashmere (Sherwin Williams) for walls and ceilings and these Houzz responses are crazy extreme. Obviously, folks either love Cashmere or hate it, so overall...the conflicting comments aren't reliable as a review.
