You should check the appliance forum as there is a lot of discussion on ranges. If you plan to cook a lot, many people like the semi-professional range like capital or bluestar, but they are 2.5 times the price you are looking at. They have open burners and no fancy features - but really cook. GE ranges have a lot of nice features. Having had both gas and electric ranges, I prefer a gas cook top and an electric oven. But again, duel fuel is more expensive. You said you are doing a total remodel of the kitchen - so have you considered two wall ovens and a separate cook top?
People say modern air makes an excellent hood, but I have no personal experience with it. Again, if you check the appliance forum, there is a lot of discussion on hoods - and all kitchen appliances. Good luck with your remodel.
