WIP and some other things

HI everybody!!

Long time no visit (shame on me) but I got a LOVELY email from Jane who put me to task for ignoring ya'll! (JUST KIDDING!!!)HA!!

I've been AWOL cuz I'm still renovating my bathroom but it's almost finished so I can then devote more time here and on GJ. And also in my garden which has really been neglected.

It's like 100 degrees today so I'm taking a day off from the reno and posting this tidbit for ya'll.

Yes, I'm doing another ducky mosaic right now. Just working on it at night while I relax in front of the TV.

Then there's this here pot I did. My GF was moving house and said we should come by and take things cuz she was paring down. The day I went there she said I should look at her plates and stuff cuz she didn't want all of them anymore and I was thrilled. Can't have too many plates as you well know. Then she remembered there was something in her shed I might like. It was a beautiful, old wash bowl - the kind like in Victorian days with the pitcher and washbowl - but the pitcher had long been gone and the bowl was now broken and she decided she was never going to have it repaired so gave it to me to make something with! Am I lucky or what??!! So I made two pots and gave her one for a present and kept this one for me.

Then there's this pot I mosaiced but I think I posted it here already... didn't I?? I posted it on GJ... hmmmm, I have been neglected you guys. I had 4 plates but only needed 3 to do this pot so next to the pot is the plate I didn't use.

But this may really be the coolest thing. As many of you know I'm a member of the Victorian Salvia Study Group. On Dec 9th we had our annual Christmas party. The party was at T's house and she does pottery though not as much as she used to - she's in her 70s now and has a lot of back problems. She's been telling me that she has tiles for me and last time I was there she wasn't up to showing me them. But this time she said I had to have a look and if I wanted them they were mine. HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mosaic gods have really smiled down on me!!! There were about 20 styrofoam boxes two rows deep of the most gorgeous tiles!! They're heavy and thick and ALL MINE!!!

Seeing all the tiles really got my creative juices flowing and I decided to create a mosaic seating area in Our Lady Gardyn. I don't know when I'll get around to doing it but once I start I will be sure to post WIPs of what's going on.

Enjoy!

    Hey Cait,
I love your floral pot, it has a shabby chic feel to it. Are you in Australia? I live in the Southern Highlands NSW.

Oh, how nice to see you here again. My, you've been busy. Don't wait so long b/f coming back. Love all the things you've shown here. Your work appeals to me because of it's traditional mosaic feel - the kind I love - chunky w/shards.

Lucky!! You've been busy:) Love it all, especially the pot with the green(aqua?)grout:)

    Thanks!

Hi Renee - I'm from New York City originally but married an Aussie and have been living here Healesville for a little over 7 years now. I also love all that vinatge stuff but don't find much of it around here. And when I do it's usually kinda expensive. So that my GF had that broken bowl and gave it to me was a real thrill.

SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've missed you, too. I'll have to check out your pic album to see what you've been up to. I don't get on the pc much lately and can't wait until I can waste hours on it again!!! HAHAHA

Kudzu - busy aint the wooord!! I'm so tired of doing that bathroom and can't wait to have it finished so I can get on to things I consider 'play'. I made the grout with green powder, but just a tiny bit of it cuz anything darker wouldn't really have looked right. At least I don't think it would have.

I just LOVE the pot with the green grout! Reminds me of the stuff I used to see in the garden shops and why I first wanted to try mosaic. Of course, I haven't done anything as beautiful as that! Takes us newbies LOTS of practice to get as good as you! You are so lucky with the tiles! Can't wait to see the seating area you create.

Hey last time I remember you posting was the frying pan exchange (i think!!!) so good to have you back around. You have been busy and I love your stuff!!! The duck is so great!!!

I have a friend that has boxes of tiles in her shed and Im just waiting for her to get tired of them being in there and give them to me!!!! Waiting impatiently too I might add!!!! She is almost done with her house remodel so my day will come soon (I hope!!)

Thanks again you LOVELY gals!! Nothing like having the ol' ego shined up a bit HA!! I have missed being on here.
But I had to laugh... cindiloo, I have to confess, the duck I'm working on now is only the 8th mosaic piece I've done (in this case 'working on') and nicethyme was sweet enough to remind me that I still have that darned rabbit to finish. HA!! I will finish that one day, Nice! Anyway, I'd hardly call myself 'experienced'.

cacbeary, thanks for the compliments on the garden. That really is my favorite place and I can't wait to start working there again. For anyone interested I posted updated pics of the garden on Garden Junk - that 'other place' so many of us met on.

Love your pots, esp the rich blue color. And the duck is looking so cute. You really must be living right...to keep getting all those wonderful materials.Drooling over those wonderful tiles. What a nice way to let her tiles "live on"..

Wow! Long Time No See Cait!
Love the pots, and your duck is so cute!
It's always so weird to hear you talking about the heat,
and working in the yard.....while we are dealing with snow,
and freezing temps. So what are your winters like there?

You really do some beautiful work with plates. Love the blue pot. Those tiles are something you don't see nowadays. I bet you can't wait to use them in something.
