Good job for sticking with it! That project would have taken me 3 years...at least. Don't have the "stick-to-itiveness" to complete a project with that many pieces.

Jane...look at you go. I cannot WAIT to see this done. I do not envy you the copper foiling job though. Like Nice said I would have turned it into a GOG but ya know I salute you for taking on such a huge endeavor. I have a table that I want to do that is about 800 pieces and its a GOG that I have the pattern for but I just at this point cannot commit to it as once I start it I cannot stop because I dont have room to leave it like you do (sniff sniff)

Man now that I think of it...you will have to keep track of how much copper foil (2 rolls or more!!) you use to foil it all and if you go through the whole spool of solder when you solder it!!!

I forgot how much I love stained glass, even tho it's more precise cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering front and back, so when you think about how much time you put into each pc of the puzzle, it's so crazy compared to the instant gratification of mosaics. I wanna get this done and do GOG on the window for my front door, so I won't be tripping in the dark any more! I've gone off road with the top of this pattern, reconfigured it to my own liking and sanity, made the background pcs less complicated and less pcs. Since each wisteria is about 100pcs each, I'm hoping to get 1 done every 2 days, 1 day of cutting and 1 day of foiling. Then a day to cut and foil the background pcs. Then a day of soldering. I wouldn't be surprised if I go thru 2-3 rolls of solder. I figure I've used 3 rolls of foil for this! It sure has been an experience to cut so many inside cuts(all the eyes of the feathers), some peices would break and I'd have to take a breather and would end up with more scrap glass than the one pc I needed!!!! When it's all said and done, it will hang in my living room next to the whale panel I made for DH's B-Day gift last yr.

This is already so BEAUTIFUL now, it is going to be absolutley BREATHTAKING when you are done!

I went hunting this when you mentioned only having 40 pc to do, WOW, what a project, and how great this is going to look! Are you using the light table to put this together?

I'm sooo excited, it's really getting there!, I was going to finish today but got called away for the whole afternoon! pooey! And tonight, double pooey!! I just realized as I took this pic, that I've never seen it without white paper behind it...hmmm??? I've never soldered 700pcs together before so don't really know how long it will take but Klinger brought up the point of ventalation....do you think DH would flip out if I spent $60 on a fume box??!!! YES!!! But....it beats lead poisoning...well, I guess I'll open a window!
Panther(Love that name!) I am set up on a great light box and it stays on here till I get it soldered enough to move! I like soldering, but this will be a challenge cuz of all the pcs, oh I can't wait!!!

Wooo, that's a lot of foiling! That would give me some sore fingers, I'm glad you're so close to finishing it. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Oh, what is the top of the light box made of, that you can solder on it? I always used a piece of plywood, but have tinkered with the idea of making a light box, just never did it.

Jane...look at you go that is so beautiful!!!! When I solder I have a small fan that I have blow kinda away from me to direct the fumes the other way. I dont have a fume trap yet either. I do that and have a window open. It works pretty well for me, you probably already thought of that though!!!

Gosh I cant wait to see this soldered. Just the thought of picking it up to turn it over and do the back makes me sick to me stomach!!!!! Are you using any restrip (I think thats what its called??) to strengthen the piece at all??
