I've made a few boxes, a couple with hinges. I remember having to find props to use while I soldered the pieces together. Like anything, the better and faster you'll get with practice.
I have the book "Patterns for Stained Glass Boxes" by Randy and Judy Wardell.
I haven't used it in years. You're welcome to it if you want it.

Good job! I haven't done too many boxes but a jig woulf be good, and the real pros bevel the corners too I believe. And a lot use brass came and put them together, did that once when I worked at a stained glass shop, a notching tool..fun!

yeah I just kinda stuff a big sponge in the middle and worked around it :D I want to do interesting 3d shapes and figure do a few boxes will get me the idea then be able to branch out into more interesting sculptural type stuff :D

Thanks!! I am still kinda amazed how strong solder is. When I put a hook on my first piece, I was thinking, "This will fall.." but a week later still there! I just get blown away continually by glass stuff.

I made jewelry boxes last year so I can understand the challenges of 3D work.

I just had a thought that came out of the blue. What if you got some silly putty or other firm clay type stuff and stood your glass pieces up in them?

Another inexpensive idea is to use a cardboard box. Lay two pieces of glass in it while the box is on it's side, solder them, repeat with next two. You can use a chip clip to hold the upright piece of glass in place while you solder.

I have NO idea where these thoughts are coming from; usually not this creative...okay, who's in my brain?!?!?!?!?!?

Must've eaten you wheaties today huh Cracked??!!! I was reading tonight in one of my stained glass books that you can lay a piece of 2x4 down and nail two more to make a "V" shape and square up to place you box in..a homemade jig that is really cheap to make!!!

OT: what type of meditation and/or yoga do you practice? I used to practice Hatha yoga, but my teacher had to close her studio about a year ago. I still run through some poses here and again, but it's no substitute for live instruction. She was SO good, and I haven't been teacher shopping since. (sniff)

OT Haven't done yoga yet but I do energetic meditation that is based on being part of the Earth and spreading love through myself. Kind of just pieced together from various traditions and applied to myself. Mostly with visualizing myself as a tree :D Mostly trying to keep my flighty self grounded!

I'm afraid I know ZERO about actual stained glass work... but your boxes are beautiful!!!
