I didn't understand it with Erin the Heron and so now I gotta ask! This gluing the paper to the substrate, then gluing the tesserae to the paper pattern-then what happens? Where does the paper go? Doesn't it dissolve? And if you have glued the tesserae to the paper, when the paper dissolves, how does the tesserae stay adhered to the substrate? Sorry, I know there has to been a simple explanation and even I think I sound stupid, but I'm lost. Feel free to mock me in your replies, but pleeeeassseee tell me how to do this. It looks so cool!

The paper should just stay there under the tesserae.

So, I glued the paper to the wood, glued the tesserae to the paper and grout over it all. Hopefully ;-) nothing will go anywhere!!The tracing paper is so thin you don't even notice it.

Sometimes, if my tesserae is semi transparent and I don't want the substrate to show, I've used aluminum foil- glued it down, and the tesserae on top

Sort of like some have done here with crash glass or pictures or something they've printed out. Same Idea, but this doen't show through.

That's a good idea. I always have a hard time tranferring a design over. The tea pot? is going to be nice looking when your done.

I saw the Middle Eastern coffee pot immediately. Love your choice for a background to the purple. It's gonna be a wonderful LS.
