Question about two different countertop colors.

I see that doing the island in a differnt color countertop than the rest of the kitchen is popular. But should I put the darker color on the island and the lighter color throughout the rest of the kitchen or vice versa or is it personal taste? My cabinets are all the same. And the wood floor color is similar to te cabinets.

If the island cabinets are the same as all the rest of the cabinets, put the darker color on the island. I'm guessing there are no cabinets above the island so being able to see is easier. Add pendant lighting and you've got yourself a winner!

Thank you! That's the way my husband and I were leaning. And definitely changing out the flourescent fixture (really? LOL) for pendants. Thanks again!
