Only time I use my ring saw, TAMAR is if I want to cut heart shapes, flowers or deep curves in glass, cuz glass only cuts in straight lines. If you have a wet saw, and want to do some creative cutting on it b/f you decide on the ring saw, get draw some shapes w/a permanent marker, then make your cuts into that shape, close together. When I cut a plate I cut them about 3/4 inches apart into the footer. Then I break them off w/my hand, and w/the nipper I can trim up any rough edges. I'm even using the blade to grind off those rough edges. IMO the ring saw is for cutting intricate shapes on glass, even though some have been successful in cutting plates w/o wearing their blades out quickly. Had I a choice over the two, I'd stay w/the wet saw. This is just my opinion, mind you.

Making straight cuts with a ring saw would be a rather big waste of time and your blade's sharpness. It can do it, but you'll find scoring and breaking to be much more efficient. Ring saws are great but they are slow and the blades cost $$ so you won't want to go through them terribly quick.

I find now that I'm hooked on garden art, I like using stuff good for outdoors and so Will be using my saw to cut shapes out of marble and slate, I can use my tile saw, but won't get the presion like I would with my taurus. I basically love tools and love having the tool around when I need it. I sure wish I could buy a cement mixer, as it would be handy when I need it...Klinger's got one and I'm envious!
