A Box for Jennifer

I wasn't going to post this cuz it's rather primitive, but then decided - hey, that's my style and I'm sticking to it! In the background is another primitive I slapped together this morning, and under the mosaiced box is another wine box I plan to use for a shrine to something (probably "Where is my Muse?" or someone - don't know yet.

Well, aren't you something Ms. Texas with no inspiration lately! I LOVE THIS...........like Annie, I see royalty...not primitive at all? Put your glasses on woman! This is beautiful........now, if you tell me you hammered and nailed that box together I'm goning feel so useless!!! LOL.........did you? If not, what kind of box is it..was something in it like bullets? Does the lid come off........I LOVE IT!

Silly girl. It's so primitive it radiates crude - You need glasses. It's a box from HobLob w/a little latch - now THERE was a challenge to get a tile thin enough under the latch to let it open. Inside I painted gold, and put little ball feet on it painted gold. I signed on the bottom under a white ceramic heart glued on. Jennifer is my GD's best friend, and I'm going to Dallas tomorrow for a tri-b.d. weekend. Thanks you two.

Slow - I love it & so will Jennifer. She's a lucky girl.

Yep new glass's needed for Slow ...really you just don't see how amazing you are.what size box is it?

Nothin' like Slow doin' the blues!!! Awesome!!

I like your perception of 'primitive that radiates crude'. :O)

Slapped this together, huh? Well that is some great job. Your inspiration looks like its back. I absolutely love the lid on top, and blue and white is so pretty. And the pearls around it, how pretty. Are they stuck on with thinset too?

Well... I LIKE IT! Love the blues... that cute heart on top from the cup handles and mille.... beads... AND the keys. It's great!

I Love this box, I've been looking at a dish topper and thinking bowling ball topper, but a lid lifter..too ingeneous!!! I have also been looking for a box to mosaic after seeing everybody's here lately. I just lurk around waiting for great ideas!!! And you all never dissapoint me!

I like your box of blues, SLOW-dear! I too like the lid topper. I looked at lonely little glass lid at a flea market a couple days ago. In fact I think there were five of them, lids with nothing to go on, poor things. You've given this one a new life!

Yep, yep, yep....what they all said. LOVE the idea of the lid on top of it! Course, anything in those lovely blues would get my vote instantly...but with the pearls.....Wow!

Looks like you're gonna get a pretty week-end for the bday party, too!

Well if y'all don't beat all! Absolutely! Y'all never let me get down about my primitives - you just keep lifting me up. BIANCHI: I used the Mapei redimix on this box, except for the mirrors, and I used GEII on those. I've found that the redimix doesn't like mirror tiles. Used hot glue for the pearls, hoping they'll stick to the wood. I am too sloppy w/GE II when not using grout. CRACK: It's 4" X 4" X 13 1/2". Many thanks, y'all.

see I love your shard style! that's wonderful! I adore this look - you make it ok to be chunky and primitive! these things say, I'm of the heart and soul of an artist

I'm just waiting for the day I can "throw something together" and have something like this to show for it!

Slow, You just thru that together? That box is beautiful!!
You are so amazing! oh yeah (and primitive) hehe...

Never, ever change your style. You are one of the main people here who inspire me with every piece.

"slapped together"? It would take me 2 weeks to just think of an idea like that! It is so COOL and I'm sure Jennifer will love it! And if she doesn't, then send it on up to me!

Primitive shmimitive - it looks great! I like the cup handle hearts. At first I thought it was a small ashtray, but then I realized it was made of handles. I also like the lid on top and the concentric circles. The pieces may be large and primitive in your mind, but the design is anything but!

Slow, another wonderful spur of the moment piece of art! I love the blues and white and the top piece is just perfect!

Lucky girl. That is one pretty box.

It was the flower pot I "slapped" together, but this box was pure labor cuz I never could feel it was right. Nice to read y'all like it, even though in my mind, it's ho hum and crude. Y'all are a shot in the arm w/your wonderful compliments. Love y'all.

She went bananas over it, and so did DGrandD over her icon. What a pleasure to see appreciation for one's work on the part of the recipients!

I LOVE that box! I love how you used a little lid on the top, so cute! Don't ya just love it when you're unsure about your work and the recipient goes banana's over it! It's like a sigh of relief.
