As 14 yo DS just said of SIRIUS's dragon...SWEET! I've tried some p-clay, haven't got the hang of it yet. Actually I think I just don't have the patience for it, too many steps before the end product. I probably won't spend much time there, but yours are looking great! And I like the black and gray, a good contrast but still some subtlety.

Now I HAVE to go play with my clay ...... I like yours !

Those are beautiful tiles. I don't like the time it takes to make them or I'd be making some for icons. Just takes forever to cut, bake then paint, and my painting techniques aren't good.

You guys are right it does take awhile to do but Im enjoying it. I just like the idea of being able to make some unique one of a kind tiles for borders and such. It will never take the place of glass though...

Im really interested in making the milleforia canes which is basically what those tiles were made from several canes cut and put into tile shapes. I'll be trying the flower ones next.

I finally found the glass for my Celtic clay tile box,
and spent the day cutting, and tumbling. I did put a coat of that Polycrylic on the clay tiles today....seems to work fine. I'm thinking 2 or 3 coats to hold up to grouting.That will help fill in the impressions from the stamps too, so they don't fill up with grout.

WOW Chickee, Those tiles are WONDERFUL!!! I love the shape and on my computer they look black and white. Very cool!!! Can't wait to see what you do with them.

Couldn't a person create a mosaic around one of these tiles as a focal tile not guling it down. Then grout the rest and then glue down the focal clay tile? Just a thought.

It is so interesting how you put 2 colors together and get these patterns. Really cool. I am forcing myself not to get the supplies to try it myself.

Who cares if they don't look like the book! I think they are too cool. Whenever I see clay on a show like Carol Duvall I get the fever, but I just can't get sucked into something else. The things that can be done with it are just amazing, though.

I bought a cheap toaster oven to bake everything in.

Shades...I had the same idea about using it as a focal but putting it down later after grouting!! I think it would probably work.

I know they look black and white but they arent. They would be oh so much more vivid if they were. I did put a gloss on the tiles and it made it look a lot brighter!!

Add Donna Kato's new book to the list, it is AMAZING, I think it would be awesome for tile creation.

wow. Those tiles are awesome! I love using those to make kalidiscope types of pendents! Monochromatic really adds glamour and sophistication I think.

If you are looking for good places to get books don't forget ebay, I picked up 8 books for $25 a couple months ago

Thanks eklypz I will look for that book. I get quite a few from amazon but have so many Im kinda getting in trouble for the DH for not having a place to put them all.

I saw that you used clay a lot when I looked at your gallery from the "seeds of life" post...You seem to know what your doing in that area, they all were really cool.

Love the tiles. Wanna Swap? I don't like making them as I don't have the time. The ones I have used grout just fine with no special care. I am curious about outside tho. Will try them for there next. Your work is great! I am proud of you.

Thank you flag!!! When I get some more made I will definitely swap with you. I made a rose yesterday...I was so durned proud of myself. It was supposed to be a rose cane but alas...it wasnt it turned out to be about two roses. Those directions they give need to be a little more thorough about things like how much clay they are using and not just what colors!!!!
