To answer the first question, I was thinking poundage or partial-poundage, but I suppose it would depend on the tesserae in question. If someone had a fantastic focal that I was interested in, then sure, whatever they wanted in return that I thought was a fair trade, then that would be fine.

"Fair Trade" would certainly be determined by the traders.

that sounds neat...I don't suppose we could trade Rosy out of left over millefori! LOL

It might be fun to just do a tessera exchange, like with the other swaps. I read that they are doing that at the SAMA
thing this year, and thought that might be something fun us to do.

SAMA does a Brown Bag Exchange every year at their annual conference. It is really fun. I actually worked as a volunteer at the table last year. I loved it! I got to see first hand what some of the artists got. Some were extremely thrilled....others not so. But is a chance you take.

You fill a brown paper bag with whatever you wish to trade. Some people decorated their bags so those went first. You couldn't see what was in it...just suppose to pick one out from the table. Some were filled to the hilt with really cool things....others had a single plate or some special rocks from exotic places in the world.

I think it would be fun especially for those who aren't able to get to the conference. It would give them something to look forward to!

I think Im understanding this that I would fill a bag with my stuff in exchange for a bag of your stuff?? It could be lots of fun. I've always been a sucker for grab bags!!!!

wuvie-the SAMA exchange "Brown Bag Exchange" is only for those attending the annual conference.

What I was saying is that it could be done on this exchange in a similiar way...we could do it like the gift exchange. Chickiemama said it right...you fill a bag and exchange it for another.

It was really fun. You fill your bag with something that is special to you and something you would like to get. I filled my brown bag with cut up "Sue Zipkin" dishes, some champaign colored mirror tiles, some patriotic beads and some other tile. In exchange I got ceramic tile, a couple of interesting clay pcs, some mirror tile, and a bunch of other stuff. It was fun.

I would love to try it here after doing the gift exchange.

Well, at the risk of getting in the way of the Spring exchange, I think I'll just do a single-thread exchange post so those who might be interested in one-on-one trades immediately can, but it won't be an 'event.' I'll put up my post later when I can take some pix of what I have to offer.

But I really love the brown-bag idea, and would certainly love to host it once the Spring exchange is complete.

Im really liking the brown bag exchange idea....so once the Spring exchange is done. I think I may join. Now, I usually work with stained glass,colored mirror and vitreous tile, is that going to be ok or is it only going to be plates and such?? Im assuming it will be, it will be nice to get stuff that I dont normally have on hand!!
